Tobias Schultze: Killing Latency at the Source: Engineering Faster APIs
This talk dives into the real bottlenecks hiding between the application layer and the database — where round trips, chatty queries, and inefficient access patterns quietly sabotage API performance. We'll explore practical techniques like query batching, stored procedures and recursive CTEs to reduce latency. Real-world examples and performance benchmarks will show how implementation details can have massive impact at scale.
Romaric Drigon: Sylius - an e-commerce you will love!
Sylius is a modern, Symfony-powered e-commerce platform built with developers in mind. While breaking down a legacy system into microservices, we discovered just how flexible and enjoyable Sylius is - especially thanks to its API-first approach. In this talk, I will share what sets it apart, how it compares to other platforms, and some real-world tips, tricks, and gotchas we picked up along the way.
20:00 Drinks and chat with the Symfony community.
Would you like to present something? Please contact david@liip.ch with your talk idea. This is a great opportunity to get first experiences in public speaking. We would love to have some first-time speakers present something. Talks can be about an aspect of Symfony, a project you did that involved Symfony, or some general web topic that could be of interest to developers working with Symfony. If you feel you need some support in preparing your talk, please reach out, there are people with experience in public speaking that will be happy to help. Talks can be held in English or German.
Please let us know if you plan to come.
