Have you ever wondered how you could make money as a writer? You dream of being more independent or taking the next steps, but don't know how? Or you are trying to find an audience willing to pay for your words? Then this WORKSHOP on CROWDFUNGING you own WRITING PROJECTS is exactly for you! 🤑💰😎
ABOUT THE EVENT
Let's face it: making money as a writer isn't easy. 😢 Here, I'll will present strategies and experiences with CROWDFUNDING so that you, too, can get (financial) wind in your writing career! 😀💸🤩
I will give a presentation of financies strategies on two platforms: KICKSTARTER and PATREON based on my own succesful project which has raised more than 10,000 USD last year on Kickstarter "The Dessert that Changed the World". I will also talk about my recently launched Patreon page which is off to a great start.
The focus will be on my own (science) writing, but you will learn tools applicable to raising funds for any writing.
From this workshop you will get away with is and plans for your own writing project. You will gain plenty of ideas, inspirations and suggestions that can be used on any projects, genres, mediums, plans you are developing, and crowdfunding platforms you want to explore.
After a presentation (about 30-45 minutes) about crowdfunding, focussing on what worked well, and what didn't work that well, we will have a practical exercise, a group discussion, and there will be time for questions.
At the end of the presentation, everyone will be prompted to prepare a short plan and pricing of their (mock) public facing crowdfunding campaign. You will be asked to answer the following questions: What products you'd like to offer as reward to supporters? How would you price them? What other strategies could you use to get succesfully funded? What are your goals? After about 20 minutes of work on your assignment, we will discuss together (some) of the plans presented by attendees.
This will be an in person event, but if you prefer to attend online, that's possible! You can go to this event (https://www.meetup.com/how-to-become-a-writer/events/310560675/). You will need to register separately on that event to attend online.

ABOUT THE EVENT

It doesn't matter if you are an established writer or if you are picking up pen and paper for the first time.
Just show up, get down to it, and start writing. Everyone will be working on their own thing, and we won't talk during writing. If you need some prompt or suggestion on what to write, I'll be happy to give you some ideas.
After the 2 h session, we will switch off our laptops and close our notebooks (but if you want to keep going, feel free!) and chill down. We can also share each other texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do.
The rules of the game:
- We aim to start together in order not to disrupt the process for everyone. Please be on time.
- No talking at the table during writing! After arriving at the table, we will focus on our own writing
- You can take as many breaks as you want of course

About the book
The horror of being stranded on a deserted island and the recent elucidation of human savagery post-World War II cemented Lord of the Flies as a chilling exploration of the fragility of society. The choice of portraying such terrifying turmoil through the lens of a group of young boys who had to pull themselves by their bootstraps organizing themselves, electing leaders, building shelters, and most important of all, surviving, adds to the vivid and brutal imagery in an already haunting tale. As the boys fight against the island's isolation and the harsh reality of nature, they slowly discover that the true danger lies within themselves.
Often cited as one of those books you have to read before you kick the bucket, William Golding's Lord of the Flies is sure to be a read to remember, whether you're already an adult or still afraid of becoming one.
After all, “We did everything adults would do. What went wrong?”

- STREAM of CONSCIOUSNESS fun WRITING game 📝🤯 with Jakarta CreativesUNFINISHED coffeeshop, Jakarta
Hello, Jakarta Creative! Are you a member of Jakarta Friends yet?
Want to see pictures of past events? Take a look here! And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊JakCre and JakFri is THE biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this STREAM of CONSCIOUSNESS fun group WRITING game! 📝🤯
Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle.
Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Have you ever heard of the "stream of consciousness" writing style? It might be different for everyone, but in a nutshell, it is a state in which words freely flow on the page. For this fun event, we will do exactly that... together! You don't need to be a writer to join this event. The fun part is that "stream of consciousness" is raw, unedited, unbridled writing! So, anyone can achieve it.
You only need two things: a device with internet connection (like laptop, tablet, or phone) and the willingness to write in English (doesn't need to be perfect English).
The idea is very simple. We will all work on a shared Google Document and we will take turns to write one sentence each. There's no theme, topic, style, or guidance. You'll just jot down what streams out of your consciusness without too many thoughts and in a fairly quick time.
Get into and be in a state of non-expectation and non-judgement... there is no burden/expectation to produce something profound or impressive, one must not judge either what one writes down but simply to be with one's own mind and let it respond and speak... One must not second guess oneself and ask, "...This sound silly... How might others see it..?"
Why are we doing this? It attunes you to your subconscious where your consciousness springs from, it declutters and give voice to your mind so that you can find creative sources in you that are oftentimes buried beneath mental layers of everyday life. It's also a great way to relax and experience creative energy with new friends, and be surprised together.
We will meet there without carrying any mental burden, leave any expectation behind, of how we might come off to others, because when we do, we fall into being self-conscious and begin to contrive things, and we fail this exercise.
The host will begin with a line from his mind, and the next person will receive this line as is and let their mind take in and create association and response as is, and pass their line to the next person until 30 minutes have passed (we may extend if necessary).
After about 1,5h of writing (with as many breaks and new starts as we wish) we will stop and talk about what we have achieved or about something else as the per the mood we have.
Whether you are a seasoned writer or a novice, just join and experience the unexpected words that your mind can create when working with a group of fellow writers for a STREAM of CONSCIOUSNESS fun WRITING game!
It's the first time we are holding this event! But we have organised many fun writing events befoe. Take a look at some of them here! 👇🏽
