Dublin Mountains Halloween Walk

Details
For Halloween, we'll be visiting a few spooky places in the Dublin Mountains.
We'll climb the 383 metre high Montpelier Hill famous for the ruined hunting lodge on the top known as the Hellfire Club named after the group which met here in the 18th Century. Many legends are linked to the building including those of a supernatural nature.
We shall also be walking through the beautiful Massey's Estate and along the Owendougher River (a tributary of the Dodder)
The weather probably won't be warm enough to have a long picnic, but feel free to bring snacks as we'll probably have a short break at some point along the walk. Alternatively we could stop at the Timbertrove cafe (between Montpelier Hill and Massey's Estate). We could also stop at the Merry Ploughboy pub towards the end of the walk for a drink or food.
After the walk, we'll get the 15B bus back into town.
Feel free to come on the walk even if you haven't been to a meet up before. This is a great way to meet new people and see new places.
*** If you wish to wander off during a break then it's probably OK but please agree with the organisers a time you'll return so we're not waiting for you ***
FAQs
- Is there a charge for this event? No, this is a free event. Sometimes we have events that involve a visit to a museum or garden with an entrance fee - but this will be clearly marked in the details
- I'm on a one-week holiday in Dublin. Can I attend this event? Yes both visitors and residents are welcome to join our walks.
- How easy/difficult is this walk? The walk is about 10km in total and we'll be walking 2.5 - 3 hours (excluding breaks). Some paths may be steep or uneven. Due to the location of Montpelier Hill, some of this walk will be along roads without a pavement. They shouldn't be too busy though. We'll provide hi-vis vests to increase visibility.
