Rye Meads Nature Walk
Details
Rye Meads is a 58.5-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Rye House, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. It is one of series of wetlands and reservoirs situated along the River Lea, to the north-east of London. It is part of the Lea Valley Ramsar site and a Special Protection Area.
Famous for its Kingfishers - and this is a good month to see them - the site has a great variety of birds to watch from numerous hides. There is also a visitor centre.
We will meet at nearby Rye House station. Exact travel times to be confirmed but we will probably catch the 11.23am from Liverpool St station to Rye House station.
Bring binoculars if you have them - we will bring some spares. We can take lunch at the nearby excellent Rye House pub. If time allows we take a stroll along the nearby canal.
