Good Night Good Luck

Details
Note: I have invited people on several venues, so there are likely to be more in attendance that what is shown here.
On Saturday, I invite folks to watch with me a live presentation of the play, "good night good luck" on Broadway, with George Clooney, at my house. Bring a snack or some food to share for during and after the show.
The play is about one of the most respected journalists in US history, preceding Walter Cronkite for that status. He went up against Senator Joe McCarthy in the 50's for facilitating what is known as "the red scare".
"During the Red Scare, figures like Senator McCarthy made it seem that anyone interested in social causes was a Communist sympathizer. Journalist Edward R. Murrow publicly challenged McCarthy’s methods in a famous 1954 broadcast, contributing to the public backlash that preceded McCarthy’s eventual censure by the U.S. Senate."
They made a movie about this in 2005, of the same name as the play. Along with being the story of who Murrow put an end to McCarthy's reign, it is an allegory for how the free press has the potential to stop fascism and tyranny.
In 2025, George Clooney adapted Good Night, and Good Luck for the Broadway stage, marking his debut in live theater. The production opened at the Winter Garden Theatre and received five Tony Award nominations.
The play was also nominated for Outstanding Production of a Play at the 2025 Drama League Awards. Additionally, the penultimate performance was broadcast live on CNN on June 7, 2025, marking the first time a Broadway play was televised live.
In summary, both the film and its stage adaptation of Good Night, and Good Luck have been recognized for their artistic excellence and impactful storytelling.
perhaps a conversation afterwards, pertaining to the relevance to our lives....or maybe just socialize!
We may also have a drumming circle afterwards, so bring one if you have one...like a Djembe or something.
