On Saturday, January 24th, beginning at 7:00 PM, you are invited to gather at Dahvid’s home for an evening with the creative tunes of the Grateful Dead—where sound, image, rhythm, and movement have space to unfold.

For many who have followed the music of the Dead over time, this music has often been encountered through a spiritual or mystical lens. As the song Terrapin Station reminds us:

“Inspiration, move me brightly
Light the song with sense and color
Hold away despair.”

As the music carries the evening forward, inspiration may move us to do some drumming, singing, or dancing along with the music. Nothing is required; everything remains optional and responsive to the moment.

Those attending are welcome to bring a Grateful Dead–related video to share, though this is not necessary. There will be a deep well of material ready to go—enough to carry the night wherever it chooses to wander. Some selections will arrive with strong sound and clear visuals; others may
carry a different kind of power, one that seems to move beyond format or resolution.

The journey may include recordings from the Jerry Garcia era, later constellations such as Dead & Friends, and moments where Dead members appear playing with other musicians—including
gatherings at places like Terrapin Crossroads, founded by Phil Lesh.

The evening will also pass through selections from the Grateful Dead Movie, along with footage from the 2015 Chicago comeback reunion concerts (Fare Thee Well), with Trey Anastasio of Phish stepping in for Jerry.

You are welcome to bring a drum, another musical instrument, and a snack to share.

Location will be sent to those who sign up. The number of persons who sign up through meetup may not reflect the actual number of attendees, as word of mouth and other social media sites will be used to spread the word.
