Hello everyone, you are invited for the next Engineering Leadership Meetup meetuop. It is an in-person event again. You are welcome in Amsterdam. We have two topics:
1 From silos to cross-functional teams in 1 year
2 From tech expert to tech leader: mastering communication styles
1 - From silos to cross-functional teams in 1 year
by Paco Trujillo, engineering manager at Sensorfact
The benefits of breaking down silos and having cross-functional product teams who can own all the technical domains a product needs and therefore deliver value within the scope of the team are well-known and appreciated within the Software Engineering industry. But many people struggle to make it happen. That’s understandable: It is insanely difficult. A journey from silos to cross-functional teams is full of friction, ego-driven discussions, and complex transformations that touch everything from the codebase to the business goals. And more importantly there is no magic recipe to excel on it, just learn from the experience of others and customized it to your own journey.
As Paco shared in talk 1, restructuring of teams and collaborating well is difficult. David will provide you with ways to make it easier:
2 - From tech expert to tech leader: mastering communication styles
By David Buirs, leadership coach
Transitioning from a tech expert to a tech leader requires mastering various communication styles. Join us in this talk to learn practical strategies for enhancing your leadership communication. Discover how to establish authority and trust through assertive but empathetic communication, tailor your message for maximum impact using DISC strategies, and effectively communicate your vision to inspire your team. By the end of the talk, you'll be able to navigate difficult conversations better, and you’ll have actionable tools to improve motivation and communication within the team.
About the speakers
My name is Paco, and I currently lead, together with another Engineer Manager, the technical developments and strategy within Sensorfact. I started my career as a software developer because software is one of the most productive and fastest roads to produce value by helping people and improving their lives. My natural inclination to understand people's motivation led me to take on leadership-related responsibilities in the different teams I have worked with.
I’m David, a leadership coach dedicated to empowering new and emerging leaders, helping them grow from chaos to clarity. With extensive senior leadership experience and a passion for psychology, mindfulness, and philosophy, I combine analytical and empathetic approaches to guide professionals transitioning from technical roles to impactful leadership positions. Drawing on a decade of experience in the tech industry, I love helping leaders within Tech reach their goals through effective communication.
