Seduction in Business: Using Storytelling as a Catalyst for Creating Authentic Connections
If you think that seduction belongs in stories of intrigue and romance, consider this. When Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli was being challenged by William Gladstone, Jennie Jerome, a great beauty in her day (and the future mother of Winston Churchill), had a chance to dine with both men. When she was asked of her opinion, she mentioned, “When I left the dining room after sitting next to Gladstone, I thought he was the cleverest man in England. But when I sat next to Disraeli I left feeling that I was the cleverest woman.”
Disraeli won the election.
If this type of seduction can work in politics, let’s see how it can work for you in business, because, let’s face it, Sex sells is so 20TH century. On the other hand, Seduction serves is the now. Seduction allows you to be the catalyst (not the agent) in the opening of what your clients desire in their lives, through the service only you can provide, but only if they know about it.
For entrepreneurs, you are your brand, and one of the best ways to engage with your clients is through storytelling. According to the National Storytelling Network, storytelling is “the interactive art of using words and actions to reveal the elements and images of a story while encouraging the listener’s imagination.” Instead of submitting your clients with facts and data, storytelling can transport them into the realm of reality through your service or product.
So what’s the connection between seduction and storytelling? There is a delicate balance and equal importance between what you say and how you say it (storytelling) and how you listen and respond (seduction). The subtleties in both elements have major impact in determining who will want to work with you and why.
This workshop is for you if you are:
