Düsseldorf – English Improv Theatre by Expat Improv
Improv, taught properly — in English, by professional teachers, with a real stage to perform on.
This group is the Düsseldorf home of Expat Improv, the English-language improv theatre school of SPONTAN THEATER®. We run our own studio in Düsseldorf and a second one in Cologne, and our trainers teach applied improvisation for some of Germany's best-known companies.
What we do here is the same craft — for you.
This is not a drop-in jam. We're here for people who want to actually get better: structured evening courses in small groups (max. 10), taught over eight weeks and ending with a live showcase on our Open Stage — in front of a real audience.
If you've played at a jam and felt there's more in you, this is the next step.
What we announce in this group: new course starts (a few times a year — places are limited), our English Open Stage shows in Düsseldorf and Cologne, masterclasses with international guest teachers, and one taster evening before each course begins.
No experience needed — just curiosity, commitment, and the willingness to get on stage by week eight.

About the Venue
VierLinden Open-Air is a beloved summer stage located in Düsseldorf’s Südpark, close to the Mitsubishi Electric Halle. With its beer-garden setting, the venue offers relaxed bistro-style seating – round tables, chairs, and classic bench sets – ideal for enjoying comedy outdoors with a drink in hand.
This open-air location is known for hosting a wide range of cultural events and provides a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere among the trees and greenery.
