What we’re about

Our English language book club for the LGBTQ community & our friends, has 2 parts: a Classic meetup and a SciFi-Fantasy meeting.

The "original" Classic book club meets at Cranberry on a Tuesday. The books we choose alternate: an LGBTQ themed book one month, and a Classic or other interesting book in the next month. I also like to make sure we read in many different genres - from novels, autobiographies and plays, to short stories and anything in between.

Due to popular demand within the Queer Community, we created the additional group, focusing on SciFi and Fantasy books. This group will also meet monthly, on a Wednesday and has a limit of 12 persons (due to the venue size at the Regenbogenhaus).

For both groups:
Our members are from all around the word, and as such, in an international book club, the books we read can be linked to our countries of origin, or a classic book or anything else that takes our fancy when suggestions are made. Feel free to make suggestions of books that have personal meaning or tells a story of your home or a journey you have been on.

Within each group, everyone reads the same book every month, and then gets together in Zürich to chat about the book.

How do we choose the books?
You can make suggestions of books to read, and vote on suggestions:

I look forward to having you join me :)

Best wishes,
André

PS - a note about us meeting at Cranberry in Zurich: they do not charge us to use their space - therefore I would like to request that everyone buys at least one drink and / or food from Cranberry, so that they are happy to have us be there. Please refrain from bringing and consuming your own water or drinks.

IMPORTANT additional information: I am very happy about how popular this book club has become, but it is my intention to keep the monthly events smallish. This allows for a mutually beneficial exchange about the book.
Please be sure to RSVP only if you can really come, so that persons on the waiting list have a chance to join.

My apologies in advance if you cannot attend an event due to it being fully subscribed already (I do NOT want to run an event in a lecture hall with 40 people, that defeats the purpose of our group).
