Open Talk Night
Hello ECCB Folks, we have to change the mode of ECCB meetups as Gladys and Nickel are both very busy with work and Uni at the moment. So from September on, we will move our meetups to Wednesdays and start from 7 pm instead of 6 pm. We will generally host open talk nights and feed in topics every now and then. We are also looking for people that are interested in leading a themed session with their own topic. This means finding a topic that you want to talk about and prepare the meetup accordingly, including questions. If you are interested in that, please get in touch with either Nickel or Stefanie. We also want to bring up more extra events like english cinema or theatre or exhibitions. If you have suggestion, please get in touch. We hope to see you soon at Volksbar! Nickel and Gladys

What we're about

Do you want to speak English in a nice and friendly atmosphere?

We offer a small group with different level speakers (beginners to native speakers) and meet up regularly every two weeks.

We have conversationalists from all around the world:

Real Berliners, Welsh, Hungarian, Egyptian, Hebrew, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Canadian, Korean, Russian, Taiwanese and so on.

Our current home for the biweekly meeting is the Volksbar in Mitte. All of our meetings are themed, topics range from Berlin, travelling, cooking and recipes to pub quizzes and game nights. From time to time we are also meeting for fun activities like BBQ, picnic or cinema (in English of course!).

Something about the organizers:

Nickel spent 6 months in Canada, there she got to know meetups and wanted to establish a similar thing in her home Berlin. In 2011 she founded the group ECCB, back then it was one of the first groups for English conversation at meetup. In her free time she is interested in languages, singin karaoke and listening to country.

Stefanie joined the group in February 2013 and became the second organiser shortly after. After spending two years in England she wants to maintain her English and speak regularly. She enjoys cooking, guitar playing and the outdoors.

Our meetups are free of charge and the only thing you need to bring along is an open mind and an interest in the English language.

We hope to see you soon at Volksbar!
