Yanesen is a nickname formed from the first characters of Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi, and is a popular area where the nostalgic atmosphere of Tokyo’s old downtown remains.

This is a relaxing Tokyo walk where you can enjoy an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a Studio Ghibli movie.

As you stroll through the nostalgic streets of Yanaka and Sendagi, you will also visit the famous torii gate tunnel at Nezu Shrine, experiencing scenery that looks like a scene from a Ghibli film. 🌿

First, let's gather at a cafe to enjoy English conversation and international exchange in a relaxed atmosphere. Afterward, we'll take the subway to the Yanesen area.

First, we will head to Nezu Shrine, where the Azalea Festival is being held. Around 3,000 azaleas of about 100 varieties bloom in red, pink, and white, creating a beautiful landscape. You can stroll through the garden and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by flowers.

Then, we will take a walk through Sendagi and make our way to Yanaka Shopping Street. The area is filled with narrow alleys, traditional shops, charming old-style cafes, and unique galleries, making it a relaxing place to explore. Highlights include the scenic Yuyake Dandan steps at sunset and the popular Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street, where you can enjoy local street food.

⛩️ About the Azalea Festival

The Bunkyo Azalea Festival, held at Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo, Tokyo, is a popular spring flower event.

In the shrine’s azalea garden, around 3,000 azalea bushes of about 100 different varieties bloom in vibrant colors, creating a stunning gradient of red, pink, and white. Visitors can stroll through the garden’s gently sloped paths and enjoy the immersive feeling of being surrounded by flowers.

During the festival, there are also food stalls and traditional stage performances, allowing visitors to experience the lively atmosphere of spring in Japan.

🌿 It’s a highly recommended spot to enjoy a more calm and refined seasonal beauty—different from cherry blossoms.

Relax in a cozy café atmosphere while enjoying English conversation and international exchange. Before departure, there will be a chance for participants to introduce themselves, so even first-time attendees can quickly feel comfortable!

📍 Nezu Shrine (2:00-2:30 PM)
A historic shrine in Bunkyo Ward. Its Edo-period main hall is designated an Important Cultural Property. Highlights include spring azaleas and the beautiful thousand torii gates leading into the shrine grounds.
👉 We will stay for about 30 minutes. If you enter the azalea garden, a donation fee of 500–1,000 JPY is required.

📍 Sendagi
An area brimming with old-town charm, dotted with traditional shops, cafes, and used bookstores. Enjoy a stroll in its relaxed atmosphere.

📍 Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street
A shopping street lined with old-fashioned delis, sweets shops, and variety stores, perfect for sampling food on the go or finding souvenirs.

📍 Finish (3:30–4:00 PM)
The nearest station is JR Nishi-Nippori Station (about a 3-minute walk).

- This event is not a guided tour.
- Last order for drinks is 30 minutes before departure.
- If you do not order a drink, an 800 JPY participation fee will be charged.
- Joining the event after departure is not possible.
- Registration is not available after arriving at the café on the day of the event.
- This meetup will conclude at the destination.
- If there are fewer than three participants on the day or in case of severe weather, the event will be canceled. However, you are still welcome to visit the café and enjoy our various meetups.
- If you wish to leave the group early, please inform the organizer.

谷根千とは、谷中・根津・千駄木の頭文字を取った愛称で、東京の下町情緒が色濃く残る人気エリアです。

まるでジブリ映画の世界に入り込んだような雰囲気を楽しめる、東京のんびり散歩です。

谷中や千駄木の懐かしい下町の街並みを歩きながら、根津神社の千本鳥居も訪れ、ジブリのワンシーンのような風景を体験できるコースです。🌿

まずはカフェにて、英会話や国際交流を楽しみながら、和やかな雰囲気の中で親睦を深めましょう。その後、地下鉄で谷根千エリアへ向かいます。

まずはつづじまつりが開催されている根津神社へ向かいます。約100種類・3,000株のつつじが赤やピンク、白に咲き誇り、美しい景色が広がります。園内を歩きながら花に囲まれるような体験が楽しめます。

そして千駄木を街歩きしながら谷中商店街へ。細い路地や昔ながらの商店、趣のある古民家カフェ、個性的なギャラリーなどが点在し、ゆったりと歩くだけでも心が和みます。中でも、夕暮れの風景が美しい夕やけだんだんや、食べ歩きが楽しめる谷中銀座商店街は人気スポットです。

⛩️ つつじ祭りについて
東京都文京区にある 根津神社 で開催される 文京つつじ祭り は、春を彩る人気の花イベントです。
