Would you like to enjoy international exchange while exploring the history and natural beauty of the Imperial Palace?

In this event, we will take a relaxing walk through the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, located on the former grounds of Edo Castle. The gardens include parts of the former Honmaru (Main Bailey), Ninomaru (Second Bailey), and Sannomaru (Third Bailey), covering an impressive area of approximately 210,000 square meters.

As you stroll through the gardens, you can experience the rich history of Edo Castle while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful seasonal scenery. Historic stone walls, gates, and castle ruins remain throughout the grounds, offering a fascinating glimpse into Japan’s past.

The gardens are also home to a wide variety of trees, plants, and flowers that change throughout the year, creating a beautiful landscape in every season.

Take a leisurely walk through this vast green space and experience the unique harmony between Japanese history and nature. Despite being located in the heart of Tokyo, the East Gardens provide a tranquil escape from the city's busy streets.

🏯 Route

📍 ENGLISH ONLY CAFE (2:50–3:10 PM)
Relax in a cozy café atmosphere while enjoying English conversation and international exchange. Before departure, there will be a chance for participants to introduce themselves, so even first-time attendees can quickly feel comfortable!

📍 Departure (3:10 PM)
↓
📍 Hirakawa Gate
This gate served as the rear entrance to Edo Castle. Historically known as the “Impure Gate” because it was also used for the entry and exit of criminals, it now stands as a quiet, serene structure.
↓
📍 Tenshudai
The base where Edo Castle's main keep once stood. While the keep no longer exists, the stone walls offer panoramic views of the Imperial Palace grounds and Tokyo's cityscape.

📍 Fujimi Yagura
One of the few surviving turrets within Edo Castle. It was named because Mount Fuji could be seen from here during the Edo period. Its impressive white walls and roof are characteristic features.

📍 Hyakunin Banjo
The site of the headquarters for the “Hyakunin-gumi,” the group responsible for guarding Edo Castle. The original buildings remain intact, making this a place where you can feel the presence of the samurai.

📍 Ninomaru Garden
A Japanese garden recreating an Edo-period landscape. Featuring seasonal flowers, a pond, and a stone bridge, it offers tranquility and natural beauty.

📍 Otemon Gate (4:45 PM)
The main gate to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace; it was once the most prestigious entrance as the main gate of Edo Castle. Its imposing stone walls and gate structure convey the weight of history.
We will disband after exiting the gate, and participants are free to explore on their own.

📍 ENGLISH ONLY CAFE (5:00 PM)
After 5:00 PM, you can join any of the meetups held at the café until as late as 11:00 PM at no additional cost.

🏯 Important Notes
- This event is not a guided tour.
- Joining the event after departure is not possible.
- If there are fewer than three participants on the day or in case of severe weather, the event will be canceled. However, you are still welcome to visit the café and enjoy our various meetups.
- If you wish to leave the group early, please inform the organizer.

Participation Fee: *FREE* (Regardless of nationality or gender)
- One drink order is required (from 500 JPY)
- Second drink and onwards: discounted price (from 300 JPY)
- Alcohol (from 500 JPY), light meal (from 100 JPY)
- A one-time “Member Passport” issuance fee of 100 JPY applies
- Payment is cash only

👉 Payment
- A 500 JPY drink deposit will be collected before departure. Please order your drink when we return to the café after the walk.
- If your drink costs more than 500 JPY, you will be asked to pay the difference.
- The deposit is non-refundable.

💡 Participation
- This meetup group is for members only. To be a member, you have to read and understand the "Rule Book" and agree to its contents.
- Please check the "Information" and "Rule Book" from the links below, and then click the “Attend” button on this page.

東京の中心に広がる皇居で、日本の歴史と豊かな自然を感じながら、国際交流を楽しみませんか？

今回のイベントでは、江戸城跡として知られる皇居東御苑を散策します。皇居東御苑は、旧江戸城の本丸・二の丸・三の丸の一部を整備した広大な庭園で、約21万㎡もの敷地を誇ります。

園内には、江戸城の歴史を今に伝える石垣や門、櫓跡が残されているほか、四季折々の花々や豊かな緑が広がり、都心とは思えない落ち着いた景観を楽しむことができます。

歴史ある城跡を歩きながら、江戸時代の面影に触れ、日本の文化や歴史への理解を深めましょう。また、広々とした苑内では、美しい自然を眺めながらゆったりとした時間を過ごすことができます。

東京駅や大手町駅からほど近い場所にありながら、静寂に包まれた特別な空間は、まさに東京の隠れた魅力のひとつです。

カフェでリラックスした雰囲気の中、英会話や国際交流を楽しみましょう。出発前には参加者同士で自己紹介の機会もあるため、初参加の方でもすぐに打ち解けられます！

📍 平川門
江戸城の裏門にあたり、罪人の出入りにも使われたことから「不浄門」とも呼ばれた歴史があります。今は静かな佇まいの門です。
↓
📍 天守台
かつて江戸城の天守閣が建っていた台座部分。現在は天守はありませんが、石垣の上からは皇居内や東京の街並みを一望できます。
↓
📍 富士見櫓
江戸城内に現存する数少ない櫓のひとつで、江戸時代にはここから富士山が見えたことからその名がつきました。立派な白壁と屋根が特徴です。

📍 百人番所
江戸城内の警備を担当していた“百人組”の詰所跡。当時の建物がそのまま残っており、武士の存在を感じられる場所です。
↓
📍 二の丸庭園
江戸時代の庭園を再現した日本庭園。四季折々の草花や池、石橋があり、自然の美しさと静けさを楽しめます。

📍 大手門 (4:45 PM)
皇居東御苑の正門で、かつて江戸城の正門として最も格式の高い出入り口でした。重厚な石垣と門構えが歴史の重みを感じさせます。

午後5時以降は、最長午後11時まで、カフェで開催される各交流会に追加料金なしでご参加いただけます。
