Let's explore Ryogoku together!

Discover the historic district of Ryogoku, famous as the home of sumo, on this cultural walking tour. Enjoy the beautiful riverside scenery along the Sumida River, stroll through a traditional Japanese garden dating back to the Edo period, and visit sites connected with sumo, the famous artist Hokusai, and Edo culture. It's a relaxing walk where you can experience Tokyo's rich history and traditions.

We'll start at the café.
Relax with English conversation and international exchange in a friendly atmosphere. Whether you're joining for the first time or coming alone, it's easy to meet new people and make friends.

After the meetup, we'll take the JR train to Ryogoku.
Our first stop is Ryogoku Edo NOREN, a shopping and dining complex designed to recreate the atmosphere of old Edo. We'll then visit the Sumida River Terrace Gallery and the beautiful Former Yasuda Garden. Next, we'll explore the Sumo Museum to learn about Japan's national sport, before finishing at the Edo-Tokyo Museum, where you can discover the history of Tokyo from the Edo period to the present day.

There will also be a short self-introduction session before departure, so even first-time participants can easily connect with others.

📍 Ryogoku Edo NOREN
Ryogoku Edo NOREN is a shopping and dining complex designed to recreate the atmosphere of Edo-period Japan. Located in the heart of Tokyo's sumo district, it offers a unique opportunity to experience traditional Japanese food and culture. Inside, you'll find restaurants serving chanko nabe, sushi, Japanese cuisine, and sweets, along with a full-sized sumo ring displayed in the center of the building. It's a great place to experience the charm of old Edo while enjoying a meal.

📍 Sumida River Terrace Gallery
The Sumida River Terrace Gallery is an open-air art gallery located along the Sumida River promenade. As you stroll beside the river, you can enjoy photographs, artwork, and exhibits showcasing the area's history and culture. The combination of riverside scenery and public art makes it a perfect stop during a relaxing walk around Ryogoku.

Former Yasuda Garden is a historic Japanese strolling garden dating back to the Edo period. Despite its central Tokyo location, it offers a peaceful escape and is a favorite spot for walking and photography.

📍 The Sumo Museum
Located inside Ryogoku Kokugikan, the Sumo Museum introduces the history and culture of Japan's national sport. Its collection includes materials related to legendary yokozuna, traditional woodblock prints, ceremonial aprons, tournament rankings, and many other valuable exhibits covering more than 1,500 years of sumo history. Admission is free, making it an excellent place to learn more about this unique Japanese tradition.

📍 Edo-Tokyo Museum (3:00 PM)
The Edo-Tokyo Museum showcases the history, culture, and daily life of Tokyo from the Edo period to the present day. Through life-sized recreations of Edo streets, detailed models, and historical artifacts, visitors can explore how Tokyo developed into the modern metropolis it is today. It is one of the city's most popular museums for learning about Japanese history and culture.

After entering the museum, the tour will end, and you are free to explore the exhibitions at your own pace.

- Last order for drinks is 30 minutes before departure.
- If you do not order a drink, an additional 500 JPY will be charged on top of the participation fee.
- Joining the event after departure is not possible.
- Registration is not available after arriving at the café on the day of the event.
- This meetup will conclude at the destination.
- If there are fewer than three participants on the day or in case of severe weather, the event will be canceled. However, you are still welcome to visit the café and enjoy our various meetups.
- If you wish to leave the group early, please inform the organizer.

両国の街を一緒に歩きましょう！

相撲の街として知られる両国を巡りながら、日本の歴史や文化に触れるウォーキングイベントです。江戸時代から続く庭園や隅田川沿いの景色を楽しみ、相撲や葛飾北斎、江戸文化ゆかりのスポットを訪れます。東京の歴史と伝統を感じられる、のんびりとした街歩きを楽しみましょう。

まずはカフェでスタート。
英会話や国際交流を楽しみながら、自然に会話が生まれるリラックスした時間を過ごします。初参加でもすぐに打ち解けられる雰囲気なので安心です。

交流を楽しんだ後は、JRで両国へ移動します。
まずは江戸の雰囲気を再現した両国江戸NORENを散策し、その後は隅田川テラスギャラリーや旧安田庭園を訪れます。さらに、相撲博物館で日本の国技・相撲の歴史に触れ、最後は江戸東京博物館で江戸から現代までの東京の歩みを学びます。

両国国技館に併設された、相撲の歴史と文化を紹介する博物館です。歴代横綱の資料や錦絵、化粧まわし、番付表など、貴重な展示を通して約1,500年の相撲の歴史を学ぶことができます。入館無料で気軽に立ち寄ることができ、日本の国技である相撲の魅力を深く知ることができる人気スポットです。

江戸から現代までの東京の歴史や文化、人々の暮らしを紹介する博物館です。江戸時代の町並みを再現した展示や実物大模型、貴重な資料を通して、東京の発展の歴史を分かりやすく学ぶことができます。江戸文化から現代東京までを体感できる、国内外で人気の博物館です。

入館後は自由行動とさせていただきます。ご自身のペースで館内を回りながら、思い思いにお楽しみください。
