Palau Novella, in the heart of the Garraf Nature Park, is home to Catalonia's first Buddhist monastery. Located right within the nature park, the romantic monastery has been populated by a Buddhist community since 1996.
Originally called the Plana Novella Palace, the Tibetan monastery established itself in July of 1996 and was the first Buddhist monastery in Catalunya. The monks here follow the Sakyapa tradition and the teachings of Sakya Trizin, an ancient king from Tibet now considered to be a great spiritual leader.
The monastery is surrounded by beautiful hills of lushest green, and views of the Mediterranean Sea in the distance. Combined with the positive chanting of the monks, it feels like a very special place to be and you will feel very lucky to be there.
From Olivella to Palau Novella
But the best part of this day-trip is the spectacular hike from the little town of Olivella to the Buddhist monastery. A tour of three hours that runs through some of the most beautiful and wild landscapes of the Garraf Natural Park.

THE PLAN
9.00 am: Meet in front of Hard Rock Cafe (Plaza Catalunya) to take our private coach. Please be on time!!!
10.30-2.00pm: Hike from Olivella to Palau Novella
2-3.00pm: Have lunch in the Buddhist monastery (you can bring a sandwich if you prefer)
3-4:00pm: Guided visit to the Buddhist monastery
4-5.30pm: Coach back to Barcelona
Technical description:
LEVEL: EASY to MEDIUM
Length of walk: 9 km aprox.
This hike requires a minimum of fitness condition!!!
Remember to bring WATER (there are not fountains), walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a good coat and a raincoat just in case!!!
TOTAL COST: 25 euros. This price includes:

If you want I can contract you a very complet personal day-trip travel insurance, but then you have to send me an e-mail with your name, surname and ID/Passport number at least 3 days before the visit starts and you have to pay 5 euros more. Thank you!
Please, be sure you can come before reserving a place. Seats are limited and I have to pay in advance the coach and the entrances to the monastery!!!
