A circle to say goodbye to the year with gratitude and to sow the seeds for the one to come.
Cacao — a raw, unprocessed type of chocolate in liquid form — will be provided for drinking. Cacao is a plant that, since its origins, has held ritual and sacred significance. It connects us with the bridge of the heart, acting as an anchor between the heart of the sky and the heart of the earth. To honor this tradition, we open ourselves and share our words.
This is an opportunity to embrace our emotions and recognize them within a safe, held space. In circle, we share and integrate the experiences that 2025 has brought. In Mayan culture, this was a year of IK’ or Wind, represented by the energy of the hummingbird — a year of great movement and change and, for many, a year marked by deep pain.
Singing together to open our throat chakra allows us to name, release, shape, and acknowledge what is leaving, while also receiving with a more open heart the seeds that are arriving. We honor the lessons we have learned and consciously choose what we will plant as we step into 2026.
Facilitated by Eli Bezares and Sarang Umarji, visiting Michigan from Chiapas, Mexico, the land where cacao was born. The cacao we will be drinking is from Izapa, a ceremonial center where cacao has been used ceremonially for over 3,000 years.
The circle will be held in Spanish and English - come share it with us!
