Personality in a Pandemic: Exploring unexpected learnings about ourself & others

Details
What have the past few months been like for you? Did things change drastically? Are you spending less time around some people and more time around others?
No matter your circumstances, you’ve probably encountered some highs and lows in your personality. Perhaps you’ve even learned a few new things -- some expected and other unexpected.
Consciously and unconsciously we’re all coping with A LOT. For some, it’s changes in their work routines or wedding plans, for others unknowns about finding love or when they will connect with their friend again, and for others it’s the lack of “me time” in a house full of family members.
If there is one thing that can carry us through these challenges times... it's understanding.
Understanding how we each react to things like change, unknowns, and stress is important first step caring for others and caring for our self.
And our responses vary from person to person, environment to environment, and personality to personality.
Personality systems -- like the Enneagram -- provide a helpful framework of understanding how each of our personalities “show up” when we’re operating under different conditions.
There has never been a better moment than this one to understand our own personality and the personalities of those around us.
During this discussion, we will explore some key questions through stories and conversation around the Enneagram.
--> How do our personalities manage and cope with stress?
--> What responses help us and what responses hold us back?
---> How can understanding our self help us to pay attention to the “warning signs” and “tipping points” within our personality?
--> What strategies can we use in our everyday lives to take care of ourselves?
--> Where in our lives can we use our understanding of others (personality) to bridge deeper connection and understanding?
This is a virtual event. After you are registered, watch for details in your inbox for how to join the conversation on September 15th at 6PM PT.
(Note: We recommend building in 5-10 minutes before the event to get comfortable and set up from your home, or wherever you join us from).
What can I expect from a Virtual Conversation?
We’ll be gathering virtually on Zoom. You can sign up to join the conversation using any email address. You will need to access Zoom (but will not need to pay to use the service). It’s preferred that you log in using video from your computer, tablet, or phone video helps all participants feel more connected and enjoy the company of everyone in the conversation.
To help facilitate discussion, we’ll use small group break-outs. During a break-out session, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss a few questions in a virtual room of 3-4 individuals. Break out sessions will last 5-10 minutes after which you’ll be invited back into the main format for continued conversation.
What if I want to join, but don’t feel like sharing?
Enneagram Understandings is committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment for both listening and sharing. We have found that learning through conversation is a powerful method for discovery and understanding. However, sharing is always 100% optional and we invite all attendees to listen to what feels most comfortable to them in the moment.
What if I don’t know my Enneagram number?
Not to worry! Every person and personality is welcome, wanted, and important to these conversations. We hope you’ll join us to listen in or share as you’re comfortable. Many have discovered their Enneagram number by listening to others stories and experiences. An understanding of the Enneagram is not essential to get value out our conversations. But if you are curious to learn more about the Enneagram in advance of this conversation, check out this great introductory video:
