🎤 Talk
Stop Automating Yesterday: Context-Aware AI for the Modern Marketing Organization - Ram Bala
- Founder & Chief AI Scientist, Samvid AI
- Professor of AI & Analytics, Santa Clara University

Most companies believe they are “doing AI in marketing.” In reality, many are repeating a familiar mistake: using a transformative technology to make yesterday’s marketing run a little faster—more emails, more variants, more dashboards—without changing how growth decisions are made. We argue that today’s AI moment mirrors the early days of electricity, when factories replaced steam with electric motors but kept the same layouts and workflows—and missed the true productivity revolution for years.

The uncomfortable truth is this: AI-enabled marketing is not the same as an AI-centered marketing. The difference isn’t the number of models you deploy—it’s whether AI can understand context: the customer’s intent, the brand’s constraints, the channel’s economics, and the business’s priorities in real time. We introduce Context-Aware AI—systems that reason over goals, guardrails, and signals across the funnel—as the missing ingredient for genuine transformation.
Through vivid examples in customer journeys, personalization at scale, and creative and B2B pipeline orchestration, we show how context-aware AI can dissolve the handoff bottlenecks between brand, growth, product, legal, and finance—reshaping coordination and ultimately how modern marketing organizations are structured and led.
