NYC's Biggest Eye Contact Experiment
Details
Let's share a minute of eye contact with strangers in public to rebuild our sense of shared humanity in cities all over the world! Last year in NYC, The Connection Movement hosted over 400 sign-holding volunteers and 4000 strangers who met in silent eye contact. And the global event with The Liberators International involved more than 100,000 people from over 156 different cities.
We will gather from 11am-2pm on 10/29/16. Cities all over the world are participating, and it is sure to be an inspiring experience!
We've all been there - looking down at our phones, glancing away quickly, not saying 'hi' or smiling to the person across from us for fear that we will break some sort of social norm. It's time to do something good for ourselves and make a change. First, smile to that person sitting opposite you on the bus. Second, come join us on October 29th to reconnect with other humans of NYC through our eye gazing experiment. What you need to bring on the day:
- Blankets or yoga mats
- Cushions, hoola hoops or chairs
- Signs saying "Where has the human connection gone? Share 1 minute to find out"
- Camera
- An open mind

- The location is secured in lower Manhattan and will be announced via email after you register. This allows us to have a headcount and communicate any last minute details to you.
