Menlo Park Founders Acoustic Open Mic.

A monthly salon for builders, operators and investors. Real conversation first, then live acoustic sets.

“We’re building a community, not a funnel.”

This is a relaxed mingle night for people who build companies and people who back them, with an acoustic open mic at the centre. No decks. No stage pitching. No performative networking. Just good people, good chats, and a room that goes quiet when someone steps up to play.

You can come to sing, play, listen, or simply meet smart humans who are actually doing the work.

What to expect.

We start with conversation and introductions. Then we switch to acoustic open mic in short sets so more people get a turn. After the music, the room opens up again for mingling and follow-ups.

This format is deliberate. Acoustic music lowers the temperature. The best conversations happen when nobody’s trying to win the room.

Schedule

  • 7:00–7:45 Arrive, mingle, light introductions
  • 7:45–8:00 House rules, sign-up for open mic
  • 8:00–9:30 Acoustic open mic sets
  • 9:30–10:30 Mingling, introductions, and follow-ups

Open mic details

  • Voice, guitar, keys, light percussion, PA Amplified - not ear shattering volume

  • 2 songs or 8 minutes max per performers

  • 30 second introduction of who you are and why you are attending

  • Sign-up is first come, first served

  • All skill levels welcome. Respect is mandatory.

The rules

These are non-negotiable. They exist to keep the night high-signal and relaxed.

  1. No pitching from the stage. Just your intro.
  2. No cold-selling in the room. If someone asks what you do, keep it human. If there’s mutual interest, swap details and follow up later.
  3. No recruiting ambushes. Same rule. Follow up later.
  4. Be generous. Introduce people, include newcomers, don’t dominate conversations.
  5. Be kind to performers. This is a safe room, not a talent show.
  6. Photography is limited. Ask before taking photos of anyone.
  7. If you break the vibe, you’ll be asked to leave. Quietly and without debate.

Who it’s for.
Founders, operators, engineers, designers, product people, angels, and investors who like thoughtful conversation and live acoustic music.

Who it’s not for....
Anyone looking for a room to farm leads, spray business cards, or run scripted fundraising conversations.

What to bring....
A good attitude. An instrument if you want to play. A friend who builds.
