Filmmakers Uncover Shocking Truths About Gulf Oil Spill, in the investigative documentary, The Big Fix .

Join award winning filmmaker duo- Josh Tickell & Rebecca Harrell Tickell, award winning actor Tim Robbins and renowned oceanographers
Los Angeles as they reveal the truths on what is still happening in the Gulf.

WHAT:  The oil spill in the Gulf is not over yet. In addition to the devastation millions of gallons of oil caused last year, new evidence shows the oil is still leaking, a widespread health epidemic is possibly underway among Gulf states residents and that fish and shrimp may not be safe to eat. What can be done? And can the situation be repaired?

*Tim Robbins - award-winning actor/ executive producer of film
* Jean Michel Cousteau - Oceanographer
* Sylvia Earle - Oceanographer
* Josh Tickell, director of "The Big Fix"
* Rebecca Harrell Tickell , co-director/producer of "The Big Fix"
* Stuart Smith - New Orleans Toxic Tort Attorney with 25 years of experience
* Margaret Bryne Curole - Former Commercial Gulf shrimper with 20 year career
* Kevin Curole - fifth generation South Louisiana waterman & US Coast Guard special guests.

WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 8th 10:0am-noon
Media Check-In: 9:00am-9:45am
Press Conference: 10:00am sharp

WHERE: Sofitel Hotel - Beverly One Ballroom - 2nd floor
8555 Beverly Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90048

WHY: The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is revealing that powerful political and corporate systems have put profits over the health and long-term sustainability of people and the environment. No matter what the petroleum and government officials say, the oil is still coming ashore today, the seafood industry is wiped out, and many of the locals are sick. “We’ve got shrimp with no eyes, fish with tumors, & fish with oil in their guts – this disaster is happening right now,” said Dean Blanchard, once the largest processor of brown shrimp in the United States, who now is forced to close his business. Up to 30% of the nation’s seafood in a given year comes from Louisiana. Toxicologists studying the fish from Louisiana waters are finding heightened levels of cancer-causing carcinogens and genetic mutations. Photographs and evidence will be provided.

*Dean Blanchard had to cancel his appearance in L.A due to closing down his shrimp business.
