About us
Environmental Futures Reading Group (English)
A long-form reading and discussion group exploring the political and economic dimensions of environmental questions shaping the future.
Each season focuses on one major theme through a sequence of books discussed over several months. The goal is not only to understand ideas, but to discuss what kinds of social, political, and practical action they might imply.
Season One focuses on Degrowth: critiques of perpetual economic growth, with a focus on ecological limits, alternative visions of prosperity, and possible paths toward a sustainable society.
Planned books include works by Giorgos Kallis, Jason Hickel, and Timothée Parrique.
Meetings will take place roughly every 6–8 weeks to allow time for reading and reflection. Between seasons, we’ll gather to discuss future themes, evaluate ideas from the season, and potentially organize local projects or initiatives inspired by the discussions.
The group is intended to be thoughtful, open, and discussion-oriented. No academic background is required — curiosity, good faith, and willingness to engage with ideas are enough.
