The big day is nigh! Shortly after midnight on June 2/3 a BIOS boot node will select 21 block producers and the EOS mainnet blockchain will come into existence.

This will be a momentous event, the birth of platform that can change the internet forever - if it works, that is. We'll grab a strong drink, hold our breaths and bite our nails while we watch the event unfold live.

Then, the voting for block producers will commence and we'll rush to our phones and laptops to select the best and brightest nerds around the world who'll be bestowed the honour of being custodians of the most powerful smart contract platform yet... and of our investments, too :-)

Here is an overview of what the process might look like:

We'll hook a few screens to watch whatever live streams are available and we'll indulge in a lively debate about the pros and cons of different block producers, our favourite projects and what the future might hold.

The proposed location is a private residence that can comfortably fit 10, up to 15 with a bit of cramping. We have a projector and a screen for the most interesting live streams but unfortunately very slow internet connection, so please plan to rely on your 3/4G connections. A couple of extra extension cords would also be handy, or alternatively bring an external battery if you'd like to be independent.

The format will be pretty loose but still, here is an approximate agenda:

21:00 - Meet and greet

21:30 - What we know about the process
This will involve a short presentation by the host Stefan, followed by an open floor for anyone knowledgeable about the subject and an open discussion.
The key questions we'll attempt to answer conclusively are:

  • How do we get our tokens
  • How do we vote for block producers

22:30 - Discussion about block producer candidates
Everyone who knows anything about a specific block producer is welcome to share their impressions. A few that will be covered are:
Bitfinex, Crypto Lions, EOS Dac, EOS Authority, EOS Canada, EOS New York
Feel free to posts other BPs of interest in the event discussion and we can cover them as well. We may not be making informed decisions when voting for government but we sure as hell are going to do it when deciding the future of our favourite blockchain :-)

Bonus points for somebody who can present BPs from other regions as the selection is supposed to be geographically and politically dispersed.

23:30 - Highlights from the upcoming airdrops

  • How can we benefit from the registration-free airdrops (e.g. eosDAC, Everipedia, Scatter)?
  • Any airdrops that require registration and are worth the hassle?

00:00 - We start biting our nails until the mainnet comes to life
