Edge of the Mountain Sport & Social - NOCO/WY

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season! The New Year is quickly approaching and I thought I would invite anyone from the group to join Crystal and I on a X-Country Ski/Snowshoe trip around Devils Thumb Ranch outside of Tabernash, CO (about 2 hours west of Denver) on New Years Day.

They do have a current base of 4 to 7 inches at the ranch and a winter storm is expected to drop more snow around Christmas. I'm guessing we should be have a nice base on the 1st for skiing and snowshoeing.
We'll plan to meet at the main reservation desk at 10 and will head out from there.

As a group we will plan to do some of the greens and blue at the resort so this will be a more entry level ski. You're more than welcome to try some of the more advanced trails if you'd like though.

We'll head to lunch somewhere in the area after the ski.

Let's ride/run the Old Man Winter (OMW) rally on 2/1/26! See oldmanwinterrally.com for all the deets. There are a variety of events (ride only, run only, ride and run) and distances. Registration fees vary accordingly (and depend on the event, distance, and when you register).

I've done this a couple of times. It's very fun. Great vibe, a party, food, drinks, swag, etc. But obviously the weather on Feb 1 can be HIGHLY variable. I learned my lesson in 2024 ($200 in parts and 3 hours to make my bike right again). I'll go if it's cold, but will bag it if it's wet and sloppy.

Given that it'll be very early season, I'm going to ride one of the shorter distances.

This is "A Top 10 Must Ride Gravel Event," at least according to Bicycling magazine.
