See all- Timber Lake, RMNPTimber Lake Trailhead, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
Let's head over beautiful Trail Ridge Road in RMNP to the Timber Lake trail. This is a hike I do pretty much every year, but the first time I've posted it as an Edge hike. This is a great hike that follows the Timber Creek drainage and gets especially pretty as we approach the alpine.
MEETING LOCATIONS:
If you'd like to carpool, we’ll meet at Jax in Loveland (Wilson at US 34), leaving at 6:00 AM, planning to be at the trailhead on the west side of RMNP by 7:45 AM. We'll take the Fall River entrance into RMNP and hopefully avoid the Bear Lake traffic. If anyone is coming from the south, we can rendezvous is Estes.FEE INFORMATION:
We'll want to make sure we have an America the Beautiful annual pass or RMNP annual pass in each vehicle since there is a hefty entrance fee for RMNP.HIKE SPECS:
- Hike Distance: 10 miles roundtrip (per the RMNP Complete Hiking Guide; AllTrails appears to overstate the mileage and gain on this one).
- Elevation Gain: 2000 feet over 5 miles
- Difficulty: moderate. A steady climb with a few slightly steeper stretches.
- Duration: probably less than 5 hours
- Dogs: no dogs allowed on RMNP trails
- Route link: Timber Lake Trail, Colorado - 742 Reviews, Map | AllTrails (but the elevation gain is much exaggerated, and this should NOT be considered a "hard" trail.)
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Max group size will be 12 people. Please be sure to change your RSVP if you can no longer attend.
