Buckhorn Canyon/Old Flowers Road MTB ride

Details
This is a classic northern Colorado mixed gravel/4WD road loop.
We'll start at the parking area at the intersection of the Moody Hill Rd. and the Buckhorn Canyon Road. The next 14 miles is a steady climb (2500 feet) up a graded dirt road to Pennock Pass. From the top of Pennock Pass it's about 7 miles down the Buckhorn Road/County Rd 63 to the western end of Old Flowers Rd. The next 10 miles consists of ups and downs along the Old Flowers 4WD trail with a net loss of a few hundred feet. Finally, a couple of miles of graded dirt to Stove Prairie, a couple of miles downhill on pavement, a short climb on graded dirt, and we're back at the parking area. Total mileage/elevation = 38/4400.
This is an advanced intermediate ride. Nothing on the ride is especially difficult technically, but it is almost 40 miles on dirt/gravel with 4400' of climbing. Please do an honest self-assessment before you sign up and convince yourself your ready for something like this. This loop is rideable on a gravel bike, but you'll be much happier on Old Flowers Rd. if you're on a mountain bike. I'd highly recommend a MTB over a gravel bike for this. Be prepared for a day in the backcountry - clothing, food, water, bike tools, bike helmet, first aid, etc. I'll touch base with everyone before we go and we'll make sure this is the right ride for you.
We'll probably be a little early for Fall colors, but may catch a few at the top.
I can provide a .gpx file with all the details if you're into that kind of thing.
