Discover the magic of Rwanda — the Land of a Thousand Hills — on an unforgettable journey through lush rainforests, sparkling lakes, and dramatic volcanic landscapes.

After exploring the vibrant capital of Kigali, we stop in Nyanza to hike Mount Remera for sweeping countryside views and optional visit to the historic King's Palace Museum and the royal Inyambo cattle, connecting with Rwanda’s royal heritage before heading into the wild.

We then head on a scenic drive to the richly biodiverse Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests, where epic hikes lead us through misty trails alive with birds, butterflies, and primates.

From the forest, we set out across the emerald waters of Lake Kivu by boat to reach Napoleon’s Island, hiking to the summit for sweeping views of the lake and surrounding hills, often accompanied by thousands of fruit bats in flight.

Our adventure continues with a kayaking excursion along scenic shorelines, paddling past fishing boats and lush hills, soaking in the beauty and serenity of this remarkable lake, followed by a fascinating immersive coffee tour.

Our adventure culminates in the dramatic volcanic landscapes of Volcanoes National Park, where we summit Mount Bisoke (3,711m) and track playful golden monkeys.

For a truly extraordinary encounter, you can choose to trek endangered mountain gorillas and witness one of the world’s most iconic species up close.

Join this action-packed adventure of hiking, paddling, culture and wildlife — the ultimate Rwandan experience!

DIFFICULTY:

Hikes on this trip are challenging, with some significant elevation gains and steep climbs/descents, and this trip is therefore best suited for fit, experienced hikers. The trails are not technical, but you should be comfortable on rough, rocky, muddy, slippery and uneven terrain. In addition to the hiking, the itinerary includes a kayaking and canoeing experience.
