Backabush is going back to Scotland to visit the ISLE OF ARRAN!

The Isle of Arran has often been described as the best of Scotland compressed into a single small island. Although only 20 miles long and 10 miles wide this magical isle is blessed with superb mountains. Goat Fell dominates the skyline and coupled with a rugged and mountainous landscape in the north and gently rolling hills in the south, the island is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll also find pretty villages, ancient castles, prehistoric standing stones and a richness of crafts, food, drink, history and culture.

Our plan is to meet in Glasgow and then drive to the ferry port of Ardrossan on the mainland where we set sail for Arran. We will then enjoy 4 nights in comfortable holiday cabins. All cabins are en-suite with single or twin share rooms. The cabins overlook the gorgeous Lamlash Bay and are a great spot to relax after a hike.

There is also a shared self catering kitchen that we can use at our accommodation and the village of Lamlash has a small supermarket and a couple of lovely reastaurants that we can enjoy.

Weather permitting we hope to undertake some of the best hikes on the island during our 3 full hiking days, including:

• Goatfell - the summit of Arran
• Cock of Arran - superb coastal hiking
• Whiting Bay, Glenashdale Falls & Machrie Moor Stone Circles

The ascent of Goatfell involves over 800m of ascent (sometimes steep) with some very minor scrambling. On this trip you will need to fit enough to hike up to 10 miles on rough terrain.

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

• 4 nights holiday cabin accommodation (comfortable single and twin share en-suite rooms).
• All transport from Glasgow, including ferry crossings, airport transfers and transport on Arran.
• 3 full day guided hikes. Our leaders are Mountain Leader trained and qualified first aiders.
• Financial protection in accordance with the Package Travel Law 1992

The meeting point for this trip will be at Glasgow Airport on Saturday 8th June. We will meet in the arrivals hall next to the Starbucks cafe. On Wednesday 12th June we will drop you back at Glasgow airport. Our airport transfers will be timed to meet the following flights:
