  • Day trip TOLANTONGO exploring the natural park, river and caves - 1 DAY

    Lugar por decidir

    68,00 US$

Let´s explore the beautiful natural park, river, waterfalls and caves of Grutas de Tolantongo together!

The natural park of Tolantongo is built along a box canyon, open on one end and closed on the other. The mountains around the canyon are volcanic, heating the water to steamy temperatures and infusing it all with minerals, forming some of the world's loveliest hot springs. And whether you'd prefer to just soak in all this natural beauty for as long as possible, or you want something a little more exciting, all is posible.

There are several ways to enjoy this Mexican geothermal wonderland. The first is to explore the tunnel and cave - this grotto features a warm, spring-fed pool and river, and also has warm, mineral-rich water misting in from the walls and ceiling... it's basically like an all-natural sauna, with a pool for swimming. If that's a little too steamy for you, then a dip in the slightly cooler river might be more your speed. The flowing water provides an almost massage-like effect, and its mesmerizing blue adds to the effect... not only does it make the whole experience feel more magical, but the water's color comes from salts and minerals dissolved in it: perfect for soaking in.

You can get an exfoliating mask or mud treatment to further the relaxation. You can also enjoy hiking and camping in this serene environment. If you can't get enough unwinding, then head to the waterfall pools, natural springs that have been dammed up to create 40 or so cliffside travertine terraces, each with natural spring water for bathing and relaxing. They've also got ziplines and an epic suspension bridge... because the experience of getting an adrenaline rush from the zipline and then coming down from that high in a cliffside hot spring is kind of the best :-).

The price is 1350 Mexican Pesos / small group and includes private transport for our group, experienced driver, and explanations in Spanish and English and entrance to Tolantongo. Please send a whatsapp to [masked] (Lidia Herrera) to ask if there are still places available, to confirm your participation and to receive the payment information (you can pay either by transfer, by cash deposit at any Banamex bank or cash payment at any Oxxo store). It is important to pay at least 5/7 days before the trip, to make sure we can arrange the right transport for the right amount of people.

    • 850 Mexican pesos with transport

Let´s explore Los Dinamos, one of the 5 National Parks of Mexico City. Los Dinamos has 2429 hectares of forests, ravines and the Magdalena River, which is the only living river in Mexico City. This river runs through the main gorge for more than 12 kilometers and on it, beautiful waterfalls are formed that in some cases exceed 3.5 meters in height. Los Dinamos is named like this because at the time of the Porfiriato (1876 - 1911, the 35 years when General Porfirio Díaz ruled Mexico, ending in the Mexican Revolution), several electric power plants were built, that used the power of the waters of the Magdalena River, whose main function was to serve some textile factories of the current Magdalena Contreras delegation. An amazing place, still in Mexico City, to escape the crowds and enjoy nature at it's best.

  • Coyoacan & Xochimilco Isla de Muñecas /doll island 4hrs boat/trajinera trip

    Lugar por decidir

    65,00 US$

Let´s explore Xochimilco and Isla de Muñecas on a 4 hour boat trip in a traditional trajinera :-).

We will visit the channels of Xochimilco in the South of Mexico City, which are left from what was an extensive lake and canal system that connected most of the settlements of the Valley of Mexico. These canals, along with hand made islands called chinampas, attract tourists and city residents to ride on colorful gondola-like boats called “trajineras” around the 170 km (110 mi) of canals. This canal and chinampa system, as an evidence of the area’s pre-Hispanic past, has made Xochimilco a World Heritage Site.

La Isla de las Muñecas – Island of the Dolls – is an area on the bank on the canals where dolls swing eerily from the trees. Myths abound about the island. Legends say that a young girl drowned there; the man who found her later finding a doll floating where the girl had been. Out of respect, he strung the doll up to a tree, but despite his act of reverence, he felt haunted by the spirit of the girl, and began to hang more and more dolls to please her...

We will take a boat ride on one of the “trajineras” for 4 hours, enjoying the beautiful views, listen to live Mariachi, Norteña or Jarocho music and make new local and international friends. During the boat trip we will have lunch aboard the trajinera.

The price is 1250 Mexican Pesos, and includes private transport for our (small) group, experienced driver, boat trip, lunch and explanations in Spanish and English. Is important you can pay and reserve at least 5 days before the trip, to be able to reserve the right transport for the right number of people.

  • National wine and cheese festival in Tequisquiapan (Pueblo Mágico) + Bernal

    Lugar por decidir

    73,00 US$

Let´s visit the national wine and cheese festival in Tequisquiapan and the beautiful villages of Tequisquiapan and Bernal (both Pueblos Mágicos).

    Tequisquiapan
The village was founded in 1551; the center of the town has cobblestone streets, traditional rustic houses with wrought iron fixtures, balconies, and wooden windowsills, which is the legacy of its 300 year heritage as a colonial town populated mostly by indigenous people.

    Bernal
Bernal is known for its enormous monolith of massive rock, the Peña de Bernal, the third highest on the planet. But it is a beautiful colonial village that was founded in 1642 by Spanish soldier Alonso Cabrera.

    The wine and cheese festival
Parque La Pila, in the center of town of Tequisquiapan, is transformed into a venue for tasting some of the best that Mexican gastronomy has to offer. Besides the cheese and wine producers, twenty local restaurants participate in the festival. The festival offers not only typical Mexican cheeses, such as ranchero, panela and manchego, but also locally produced versions of French and Middle Eastern cheeses.

Another specialty introduced by the Spaniards and featured at the festival is wine. The local wine has come a long way since colonial times, when grapes were planted to make the wine considered necessary for the Catholic Mass. Nowadays, St. Emilion, chenin, macabeau, gamay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, pinot gris and cabernet are among the vines planted. The festival offers opportunities to taste local sparkling wines made using the champagne method, as well as Querétaro's chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, merlot, pinot noir and cabernet. There are also wines from other regions of Mexico and from Spain, Italy, France, Australia, Chile, Argentina, South Africa and Uruguay.

It is important to confirm and pay at least 1 week before the trip, to make sure we can arrange the right transport for the right amount of people.

The price is 1450 Mexican Pesos and includes guided walking tours in Tequisquiapan and Bernal, entrance to the festival, private transport, experienced driver and certified guide; explanations in English and Spanish. If you prefer just free time, that is also possible.

You can pay by making a transfer, by making a deposit in a Banamex Bank or by paying in an Seven11 shop; please send a Whatsapp to [masked] to check availability and to receive the payment information.

    Lugar por decidir

    65,00 US$

Let´s explore the wonderful National Park and volcanoes Iztaccihuatl (dormant volcano at 5230 meters, in the shape of a sleeping woman) and Popocatépetl (active volcano at 5426 meters); Mexico´s third and second highest peaks.

The trip is not too heavy, we go at 3990 meters, we will take enough time to acclimatize and you can make the trip as tough as you want (by just taking in the amazing views, fresh air and lovely nature), exploring 3 different trails. In 2 parks and Paso de Cortes.

We will also visit the Paso de Cortes; this name derives from the fact that in 1519 Hernán Cortés and his men, after the battle and massacre of Cholula, marched over this pass to the valley of Mexico and city of Tenochtitlán in order to confront the Aztecs and their emperor Moctezuma. It is said (but also denied) that some of Cortés' men climbed Popocatépetl at this time, lowered each other into the crater, and brought back sulphur to make gunpowder with. We will also explore some nearby waterfalls.
