What would it mean to truly reimagine America?

Timed to coincide with Juneteenth and the 250th anniversary of July 4th, Reimagining America invites participants to reflect on the nation’s founding promises as well as the ongoing work of true liberty for all.

This gathering brings together leaders, activists, scholars, and community members of all ages for thoughtful conversations about the future of our shared civic life. Through panels on education, local government, reflective activism, and religious pluralism, participants will explore how we can strengthen institutions, deepen participation, and build a more just and inclusive society.

Grounded in honest reflection and creative possibility, the conference is a space to ask bold questions and imagine new paths forward.

    Where curiosity is celebrated

At Atheists United, we understand better than anyone the importance of creating a safe, secular space for people to explore their ideas, identities, and values. Youth should be celebrated, not shamed, for asking honest questions.

    According the US Secular Survey:

    • 15% lower rate of depression among youth active in a local secular community
    • More than a third of secular youth had negative experiences with family due to their nonreligious identity
    • One third of secular youth had negative experience in education due to their nonreligious identity
    • Nearly 50% of young people are religiously unaffiliated

AU Food Distribution -- Volunteers Needed!

2535 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA, US

    ## Details

Atheists United, California's largest grassroots atheist nonprofit, hosts a food distribution in Los Angeles every month at our office building. We've partnered with the LA Food Bank and Sunday Assembly Los Angeles to give out over 4,000lbs of food each event.

We need volunteers to help us unload, sort, assemble, and give away grocery kits from 12pm - 5pm.

From 12pm - 3:30 we unload the truck, sort the food, and build the grocery kits. From 3:30pm - 5pm volunteers will help hand food out directly to those in need in the neighborhood. From 5pm - 6pm we'll clean up and celebrate everything we accomplished together at a local restaurant.

Free snacks and drinks provided for all volunteers.

If you'd like to be a super volunteer, contact us about showing up at 10am to help with early setup!

Food: Snacks will be provided free for volunteers. We also usually buy lunch for everyone. After the event volunteers usually gather at a local restaurant to debrief.

Safety: Safety vests, gloves, and masks are available for all volunteers. Volunteers are expected to be fully vaccinated.

Parking: Free parking available for volunteers in our parking lot off Rampart Blvd.

Dress Code: Safety requirements include: no open-toe/open-heel shoes or high heels. We recommend casual attire (jeans, t-shirt, light sweater, & tennis shoes). Please dress for the weather and wear sunscreen as needed.

Any questions, please contact Evan at evan@atheistsunited.org

We know we have only one life to live and few things bring more joy than helping others. Join us!

If you can't attend but would like to help support the program financially please consider a donation to Atheists United so we can organize more projects like this in the future: https://www.atheistsunited.org/donate-now

    Change myself, change the world…

SMART Recovery® (Self Management And Recovery Training) helps individuals gain independence from addictive substances and activities.
Welcome to our community! Our discussions are based on scientific knowledge and evolve as scientific knowledge evolves. SMART is helpful for some participants primarily because they become involved with a new community of helpful and friendly people. For others, SMART is helpful primarily because they learn new ways of thinking about themselves and their behavior.

Although we have science-based ideas for you to consider, no one will tell you what to do. Our slogan is “Discover the Power of Choice.” For many SMART is a combination of a new community and new ways of thinking. You can be involved with SMART in whatever way you want to. We look forward to your participation.
