This is a support group for those who have survived an abusive relationship with a parent or caretaker and need support. Grab a coffee or a glass of wine and feel welcome to share your experience, this is an informal, supportive place to vent and talk. **THIS EVENT IS FOR ESTABLISHED MEMBERS ONLY. YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED A FIRST TIMERS MEETING PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR THIS GROUP.** Maximum attendance of 20 people so everyone has a chance to share. Video MUST be on so everyone can feel comfortable. Meeting will open with a short introduction of everyone and then will open to sharing. It's a safe, supportive environment and I look forward to meeting all of you again - Please note that registration at a First Timers event must occur before you register for this event. A great book to start on this issue that I would highly recommend (even if you're a male or the narcissist in your life is your father) is Dr. Karyl McBride's "Will I Ever Be Good Enough: Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers" and much of my moderation of this group will be based on that book. YOUR ORGANIZER: I always knew there was something wrong with my mother and as a result, felt that there was something wrong with me as well. In 2012, I stumbled upon a Dr. Phil episode quite accidentally and figured it out. My mother was and is a narcissist. What was wrong with me took a lot longer to figure out but over time, I have pieced together that my tendency to over book myself, my contact need to overachieve educationally, financially and socially, my near obsessive need to organize and my co-dependency is all tied into how I was raised. I'm a 40 something attorney trying to heal from my childhood and am just as likely to share in this group as any other support member. ZOOM LINKS WILL BE MAILED THE MORNING OF THE EVENT.

Hello! I have been facilitating English Conversation Circles for about 7 years, and have moved to an on-line platform when Covid hit in 2020. We gather every Friday for 1.5 hour and get to know each other as we practice our English in a safe and comfortable space. This is not a class, it is a gathering of folks from around the world who want to practice their English. Here are some guidelines for the group: 1) The primary goal of the group is to practice English. 2) We will all respect each other, be kind, and patient to those whose English is more basic. Si estos temas te interesan, ven y conoce las técnicas y los secretos para perder el miedo a hablar en público. ------ ¿Qué hacemos exactamente en cada reunión? Cada reunión es dirigida por el Toastmaster de la noche, es decir el maestro de ceremonias de ese día, se divide 3 partes principales en cada sesión: (1) Discursos preparados: por lo general son de 2 a 4 discursos, presentados por alguno de nuestros miembros. Es un speech diferente cada noche y creado por cada orador. (2) Improvisados: es la parte de la noche donde retamos a los asistentes a pasar adelante e improvisar, cada persona tiene 2 minutos para hablarnos sobre un tema al azar, por lo general pasan 4 o 5 personas. (3) Evaluación: es la parte más importante de la noche en la cual todos los participantes reciben retroalimentación sobre los aspectos positivos y las oportunidades de mejora. ------- ¿Qué significa Toastmasters? Toastmasters es una palabra en inglés que se podría traducir como "el maestro del brindis", dado que "Toast" se traduce como brindar, hace referencia a esas personas que están en un evento social y se les pide realizar un brindis delante de todos los asistentes. Hoy en día usamos el término para referirnos a la persona que dirige toda la sesión de la noche. ------- ¿Cuantas personas asisten cada noche? Entre 20 a 50 personas, depende el día. ------- A mí me da mucho miedo hablar en público, levantar la mano y pasar al frente, ¿Puedo asistir solo para ver cómo funciona? Sí, tranquil@, no te obligamos a hablar frente a la cámara, la idea es que vuelvas, sabemos los nervios que se producen cuando hablas frente a un público. Todos estuvimos alguna vez como invitados y volvimos. ------- ¿Qué experiencia tienen los oradores del Club? Tenemos toda clase de personas en el grupo, desde los que están empezando y llevan menos de un mes, hasta los que llevan 5 años. ------- Dos preguntas que nos hacen constantemente y nos saca una buena sonrisa :) 1. ¿Son una empresa multinivel? No, jajaj enserio No. 2. ¿Quién es el profesor que dicta las conferencias? No tenemos profesores, no hacemos conferencias, ni nada por el estilo.
