Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.
Established in 1910, The Rotary Club of San Mateo is among the more established and vibrant Clubs of the San Francisco Peninsula. We are 155-members strong and have an extensive history of service.
Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women. The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.
The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
Although Rotary clubs develop autonomous service programs, all Rotarians worldwide are united in a campaign for the global eradication of polio. In the 1980s, Rotarians raised US$240 million to immunize the children of the world; by 2005, Rotary's centenary year and the target date for the certification of a polio-free world, the PolioPlus program will have contributed US$500 million to this cause. In addition, Rotary has provided an army of volunteers to promote and assist at national immunization days in polio-endemic countries around the world.

Also, check out the Club Handbook for a listing of the committees you have volunteered to work on this year. Thank you for your service!hinker with a keen eye for understanding how to implement transformational change in organizations. I believe that education must be an instrument for moving society beyond the status quo toward a better, more sustainable future. Furthermore, I see schools should be places for individual and collective transformation, and should model possibility, strength of community and a better world for all. I continue to work in the field of education as a change agent for a thriving 21st century education system, and a more sustainable and holistic paradigm.
Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
This group is for anyone interested in writing in English, whether it be prose or poetry or non-fiction. We get together once a week to listen, critique and support each other in our work. Attendees bring something they have written, which they read aloud. They then receive feedback from the rest of the group. The size of the group is limited to 4, so that everyone is able to receive a full 30 minutes of constructive feedback including reading time. We are an anglophone group and everything is conducted in English, in fact not everyone who comes can speak French. Please bear this in mind if you sign up.

Marcie's English Conversation Circle
Hello!
I have been facilitating English Conversation Circles for about 7 years, and have moved to an on-line platform when Covid hit in 2020. We gather every Friday for 1.5 hour and get to know each other as we practice our English in a safe and comfortable space. This is not a class, it is a gathering of folks from around the world who want to practice their English.
Here are some guidelines for the group:
1) The primary goal of the group is to practice English.
2) We will all respect each other, be kind, and patient to those whose English is more basic.
I hope to see you!
\~\~ Marcie
Woodbridge Rotary
Woodbridge Rotary is a dynamic group of business owners, retirees and business professionals with a genuine interest in serving our community. We come together every Thursday to learn, share and serve.
For now we meet online at 12:30 using the link below and the following information:
Meeting ID: 858 4085 9952
Password: 882164
After we get back to normal this will partially change to our norm.
We start to arrive at noon and the meeting actually begins at 12:15. We have opening remarks and then eat. About 12:45 there are some discussions and then our guest speaker will talk from 1:00 PM until about 1:25 to include questions. We are usually out by 1:30.
However our plan is to incorporate online meetings with our physical attendance meetings.
Men's Open Circle (Zoom)
Please join us (AZ time) for a facilitated Men's "Open Circle" where you can share (or not) what's on your mind, seek input from other men, connect and build community. Until recently all of these meetings were held around a firepit in one of our member's backyards. We are now meeting both in person and "virtually." The only requirements we have (upfront) are that you show up sober, on time, ready to engage, and that you maintain the privacy of all attendees. Online "Zoom" meetings are held every other Thursday night (mark your calendar!).

Engaging in men’s work is the new way to forge friendships while being open-minded to personal growth. Many men experience healthier relationships, personally and professionally, by engaging in this work.
Open Men’s Group is a container for men to share vulnerably without receiving judgment or feedback.
We believe that emotionally mature, powerful, compassionate, and purpose-driven men will help heal some of society’s deepest wounds. We support the powerful brilliance of men and we are willing to look at, and take full responsibility for, the pain we are also capable of creating – and suffering. We care deeply about men, our families, communities, and the planet.
