Drop-in Saturday Games & Social @ The Thirsty Bear
Drop-in Saturday Games & Social @ The Thirsty Bear
If you're looking for a laid back Saturday playing some board games and talking nerd stuff in a pub with some awesome people, this is the meetup for you! Whether you're new to London or just want to get some long-lost in-person socialisation, we're a friendly community and welcome you all. **What to expect:** We officially play from **2 PM to 7 PM**, but we keep it casual. Show up when you can, and stay as long as you like. If you’re having a good time, there’s usually a group that stays late for a few extra pints and chat. **Some house rules:** * We aim to ensure these events are friendly, welcoming and safe, and so we ask you abide by our [Code of Conduct](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YEl0gv61SkBFN-YF6fyVvuQYicWbWhRL/view?usp=drive_link) * We have a community box of games we keep in the pub, but please feel welcome to bring your own games along. Just be prepared to teach us how to play! * We don't charge a cover fee, so please help support the pub by ordering food and drink throughout the afternoon. * Please keep your RSVPs updated so we can manage numbers and ensure we can reserve enough tables.

Together, we’ll explore Stanmore Country Park, embracing Shinrin-yoku (森林浴), the Japanese idea of 'forest bathing' to de-stress and reconnect with nature. 🌿 Feel free to practice speaking Korean or Japanese as we walk. Enjoy seasonal bluebells and stunning views across London. **Schedule & Meeting Point** 🌸2:30 PM: We'll meet at Caffé Nero, Stanmore (8 min walk from Stanmore Station). Feel free to get a drink, we'll wait until 3PM for everyone to arrive. 🌸3:00 PM: We'll start walking towards, then into the woods, where we'll pass streams and bluebells along the way. Keep an eye out for wild deer. 🦌 We'll stop at a panoramic view point, and rest for a while before continuing. Afterwards we'll return to Stanmore station, where you can either leave, or join the rest of us for a bus ride to Bang Bang Oriental Food Court in Colindale, we'll enjoy some great food, then go to a nearby pub. 🥾 Hike Difficulty: Moderate *Expect hilly areas and uneven paths, not a flat paved walk. - Depending on recent weather, some paths may be a bit muddy - please wear appropriate footwear. 🏵 Final note: Stanmore is at the end of the Jubilee Line, I know it's far for some people. I hope you'll join us for this unique event, and connect with nature. This event is for those with a genuine interest in Korean and Japanese culture.
Day trip by train - visit historic Hertford!
Day trip by train - visit historic Hertford!
Come along on Saturday 18th April to visit the historic town of Hertford! **About Hertford** Hertford is the county town of Hertfordshire. Its only 20 miles north of central London and only has a population of 30,000. The town grew up on a ford on the River Lea in 913AD where the Rivers Rib, Beane and Mimram join the Lea. Its name comes from the Old English word '*Herut*', meaning a fully mature stag; thus the meaning of the name is a ford where stags are found. The town has a castle (now just a gatehouse remaining) built by the Normans in the 11th century. In 1563, Parliament met at the castle because of an outbreak of plague in London. Its most famous resident was Samuel Stone, who was born here in 1602 and later emigrated to America. He was instrumental in developing the community he settled in into a city, renaming it Hartford (in the state of Connecticut today), after his birthplace. From the 18th century onwards, the town prospered as a market town, with many warehouses and trade on the river. The town has lots of medieval, Georgian and Victorian properties, along with a local museum. **Cost** The guided tour is £8 per person (payable on the day by cash, credit card, PayPal or Bank Transfer). The guided tour is only open to Full Members of the group. For those that are not doing the guided walk, its a self-guided tour using handouts that I will provide. **Aprox Itinerary** 9:45am - meet at the station and get GroupSave return train tickets (in groups of 3) to 'Hertford East' 10:08am - catch train 10:57am - arrive at Hertford East Station and walk into the town 11:15am - arrive 11:30am - guided tour of Hertford (for Full Members only) with a tour guide. For everyone else it will be a self-guided tour of the town using handouts provided 1:30pm - stop for lunch, Hertford is great for foodies, with lots of independent cafes, pubs and restaurants 2:30pm - meet at the war memorial for a self-guided tour of the town for everyone 3:30pm - visit the town museum (free entry) 4:30pm - freetime to keep looking around the town or head back to London Trains going back: 4:07pm 4:37pm and the same times past each hour - it takes 50mins). **Train Tickets** We will be getting GroupSave tickets (3 for 2) which work out at £8.54 each (we will be purchasing these in groups of three on the day as people arrive). **Become a Full Member** To become a Full Member (£14 a year) either: \- Pay cash at an event \- Pay via Bank Transfer \(email me – general@cultureseekers\.org for details\) \- Pay via credit card on the day or in advance \([https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QLAX8AUI](https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QLAX8AUI)) \- Pay via PayPal\, send a payment to general@cultureseekers\.org\, using the ‘Friends & Family’ option Benefits of becoming a Full Member [here...](https://www.meetup.com/london_cultureseekers/photos/22974682/531979527/) Please note, we will only wait at the station for 10 minutes after the advertised meeting time so please be early or on time. TRIBALHEART ECSTATIC DANCE
TRIBALHEART ECSTATIC DANCE
DANCING EVERY 1ST AND 3RD SATURDAY NIGHTS <3 Tribalheart Ecstatic dance creates space for free-form movement in a chat free zone where you can dive deeply into the heart, reconnecting, expressing, dancing in and out, up and down, learning to let go of anything and everything that holds you back from yourSelf and inner freedom. Let the energy move you, let the spirit of the heart guide you. There is space to dance alone and no pressure to connect with anyone else, just be yourself and honour what you need in the moment. This night is an inspiration and fusion of club culture, dancing yoga, active meditation, cardio fitness, Ecstatic trance dance (blindfolds available) and a sacred Nataraj. If you choose to connect, it is a chance to meet others without words from a place of movement, meditation, energy and soul; eyes and heart wide open. ### We will start the evening with a welcoming warmup to relax the body and mind. Together we will set an intention for the evening inviting the heart to open and awaken within us thus creating sacred space for all. For those that wish to partake, we will enjoy and deepen our intention with a short Cacao ceremony. (The cacao is used to take us deeper into our body, awakening our senses, connecting us to heart energy and aiding a spring in our step) We also embark on some dynamic breathwork to fire us up for the evening. \- Please leave at least 2 hours after eating a heavy meal if drinking cacao\. -Please do not drink alcohol before the event as it is contraindicated with some of the breathwork techniques we practice We inject passion into sourcing the music for our events and aim to deliver an eclectic mix of genres for your heart. From tribal to electronic and everything in between we aim to assist a natural flow peaking and resting to mirror the rhythm and energy of life. Prepare to shake, spin, whirl and twirl. The music becomes the facilitator during the wild ecstatic dance ending with moments of stillness into silence where we can rest and breathe together Each DJ has their own sound and energy to be shared, making each night unique and different... 18/4/2026-DJ ATMO 2/5/2026-DJ TARA Will update DJ listing asap <3 Admission **New Venue**-Doors open from 630pm and we start at 7pm. The Riddle of the Sphinx
The Riddle of the Sphinx
Below is the WhatsApp group for this event. You need to join it to find out where we are meeting. [https://chat.whatsapp.com/KrkGkyWNz4J3vkbKGk7YYP?mode=gi_t](https://chat.whatsapp.com/KrkGkyWNz4J3vkbKGk7YYP?mode=gi_t) **Solve the Mystery: The Riddle of the Sphinx** Are you ready to look at history through a different lens? Join us for an immersive exploration of the world’s most famous enigma: **The Riddle of the Sphinx.** This isn't just a dusty history lesson. We’re heading into the heart of the **British Museum** to decode ancient artefacts and uncover the hidden layers of meaning that most visitors walk right past. **Why this matters to your path** In the Cochranian and Regency traditions of Wicca—inspired by the teachings of Robert Cochrane—the Sphinx isn’t just a statue; it’s a key. We will explore: * **The Sphinx's Secrets:** How the riddle informs modern Wiccan practice. * **The Cochranian Tradition:** Bridging the gap between ancient myth and living magic. *** **Is this for me ?** Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just curious about the Craft, you're welcome! * **No Prerequisites:** This "knot" (lesson) is part of our introductory series, but it stands perfectly well on its own. * **New Members Welcome:** You don't need to have attended previous sessions to dive into this one. Because we are hosting this within the British Museum, **spaces are strictly limited.** To ensure a high-quality experience for everyone, we have to stick to a firm capacity. **How to Secure Your Spot:** 1. **Register via the App:** All our "knots" and curriculum materials are managed there. 2. **Join the WhatsApp Group:** This is our primary hub for logistics. If the first session fills up, we will coordinate a second date exclusively through this group. 3. **The Link:** Keep an eye on this space—the joining link will be posted here before the event.

A Conversation on Grief : Belonging, Identity, and Loss After Religion
A Conversation on Grief : Belonging, Identity, and Loss After Religion
You are invited to this joint event of Association of Black Humanists and Unruly Beauty. **Overview** Can a life without traditional religious meaning still feel sacred or whole? Grief is often associated with the loss of a person, but many of us carry quieter, less recognised forms of grief. This workshop creates space to explore the grief that can arise after losing a community, a shared purpose, or a spiritual framework, especially in the aftermath of leaving a religious tradition or belief system. Together, we will gently examine what it means to grieve not only *what was*, but also *what was promised*: belonging, certainty, identity, and a sense of divine connection. Participants are invited to reflect on how loss of faith or religious community can affect meaning-making, relationships, and one’s inner life, often in ways that are invisible or misunderstood by others. You do not need to identify as spiritual or religious to attend. This space honours doubt, curiosity, longing, anger, relief, and hope, (without pushing answers or beliefs). This is not about fixing grief, it is about witnessing loss, honouring transition, and making room for new forms of connection, within yourself and with others. Whether you are newly navigating life after religion or years into rebuilding your sense of self, you are welcome here. All Unruly Beauty events are open to ALL BODIES and ALL IDENTITIES! We affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and are committed to cultivating a space that is inclusive, affirming, and psychologically safe for all. Please get your ticket at: [A Conversation on Grief : Belonging, Identity, and Loss After Religion Tickets, Sunday, Apr 19 from 2 pm to 6 pm | Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-conversation-on-grief-belonging-identity-and-loss-after-religion-tickets-1983653963403?aff=ebdsshsms&utm_share_source=listing_android&sg=41dc7852e3c2c15abff109e6d60c35ae41b4d315c9aaf13ae99fadc159dd4742c404b715e2e5b679ea51461ecf7d9b293310945233892b469142c37487084052265edc7df3f422ec4d0ab644db) **(If the cost of a ticket feels like an obstacle, please send us a message. Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
Contra dance with Big Scioty May 2 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Richard Ades** **Band: The McKenzies** **Clinton Heights Lutheran Church** **15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot. For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/) Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
