Quite Write: Writing Night!
Quite Write: Writing Night!
NOTE: This is an online event for the time being! Stay safe, everyone. We start off chatting about our work, including setting goals for ourselves (which is entirely optional but super helpful!), and then we write. That's what it's all about. As simple as the idea is, it's amazing how much more you can get done simply by being in the presence of other writers at work. The baked goods don't hurt, either. There is power for laptops, and some of us use pen and paper. Your choice! And, although we are not a discussion group, there are many areas where people can go if they want to talk without being disruptive.
Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
Writers' On-Line Feedback Session via Zoom
This group is for anyone interested in writing in English, whether it be prose or poetry or non-fiction. We get together once a week to listen, critique and support each other in our work. Attendees bring something they have written, which they read aloud. They then receive feedback from the rest of the group. The size of the group is limited to 4, so that everyone is able to receive a full 30 minutes of constructive feedback including reading time. We are an anglophone group and everything is conducted in English, in fact not everyone who comes can speak French. Please bear this in mind if you sign up.

Shut Up & Write with Anne!

All writers and all experience levels are welcome, and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This hour is about getting your writing done, and having fun while doing it! WHAT TO EXPECT We’ll give 5 minutes in the beginning for people to settle in and share what they’re working on, then have 50 minutes of focused writing before we give people a chance to talk about what they accomplished. Stick around and chat for a bit, or feel free to head out. WHAT DO I NEED? A computer with a working camera and microphone, a good internet connection, and optionally, headphones. WHAT DO I NEED? Mythology-themed Gateless Writing Salon via Zoom Led by Rebecca Lynne
Mythology-themed Gateless Writing Salon via Zoom Led by Rebecca Lynne
Join Rebecca Lynne as she leads a two hour generative writing workshop, featuring prompts, inspiration and feedback drawn from the Gateless method. In the mythology salons, a character from mythology will be chosen prior and will be briefly described so there is no need to prepare prior. Then a related poetic prompt will be shared followed by writing and sharing time with feedback following the Gateless method. ALL GENRES ARE WELCOME! Rebecca Lynne is a certified Gateless facilitator. Beginning with presentation of a unique communication or expression, she will lead the group to a prompt and then time to write. She will invite the group to share what each has created, with feedback following the Gateless method. Let Rebecca help to inspire you, create community, and help to unearth the writing that’s inside. This workshop is $15 per session or 11 sessions for $150. It is offered complimentary for your first session so you can see if it is something you would like to invest in. I am able to accept PayPal.me/RebeccaLynne and Venmo @Rebecca-Smolen or cash.

Weekly Read-Aloud Writing Feedback Session (Online via Discord)
This meeting is online only for now but may change in the future; we meet on the Discord app which can be on a computer tablet or phone. This meeting is free and if you are new to reading out loud you can always ask one of our members to read for you if you prefer not to read out loud. Not everyone who attends signs up through Meet-Up up so please try to be on time as best you can at 1p to ensure we can figure and try to make time for new members. This group meets weekly at 10a instead so please double check to check meet up and discord as I will try to keep both updated if there are time changes. You do not have to be a professional writer or have anything polished to come read; we have writers of many different skill levels on various weekends and all are welcome :) Learn more about our group on our website: http://tucsonscififantasywriters.weebly.com/ or our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TucsonSFFWriters
PHILADELPHIA NATIONAL WRITERS UNION STEERING COMMITTEE; members and friends
PHILADELPHIA NATIONAL WRITERS UNION STEERING COMMITTEE; members and friends
https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/1/1/6/4/event_461044452.jpeg Pennsylvania has a number of bills to be voted upon which will move union rights to not exist if passed. In Pennsylvania, if the present governor is not reelected, Pennsylvania will become a "Right to Work" state, which for writers will mean a reduction in pay for each word written or for each of our other creations we may produce. These we must fight. Members and friends with specific situations to be sent to the NWU National office for representation will be explained. All are welcome to attend. There is no fee to attend the Steering Committee or other committee meetings.

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor. BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving!” SUMMER OF ICE CREAM, VOL 2: SHAKE NO. 8!
