This is part 3 of our discussion series on Infinite Jest. Participation in the prior parts is not a requirement, anyone is welcome to join in. This meeting will be dedicated to talking about the first 785 pages of Infinite Jest. We will be reading up until "17 November Year of the Depend Adult Undergarment" We will also be discussing some of David Foster Wallaces essays. The essays we will cover are - "Shipping Out" (aka A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again) - "E Unibus Pluram" - "The View From Mrs. Thompson's" - "Getting Away From Already Being Pretty Much Away From it All" They are not mandatory but reading these is highly encouraged. Feel free to read ahead but the discussion will only cover up until this point. This will be the third of four meetings planned for Infinite Jest. These meetings will be scheduled monthly. Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO. No need to have a Capoeira background to join this class, just an open mind to try out a new way to move! Beginners welcome. **Please reserve your spot at www.piesfitnessyoga.com**. Average mileage is 4-6 miles, but some members might go farther (and others shorter). We meet in front of Mission BBQ at 8:00AM for introductions, then walk over together to the Indian Creek Trailhead. We are always happy to welcome new faces (and feet)!
