🏞️ Matilija Falls Exploring Adventure
Matilija Falls Trailhead, 3970 Matilija Canyon Rd N, Ojai, CA 93023, Ojai, CA, USThis wild nature is one of the most pristine, beautiful, exciting and fascinating places I have ever been to. More pristine and beautiful than Santa Paula Punchbowls and all other trails around Ojai. More beautiful than Dragon's Back Ridge to Arlington, Tangerine Falls, and Seven Falls in Santa Barbara, yet also more remote and wild - many miles of almost off trail wilderness bush and creek traverse: uneven & rocky terrain, slippery surface, wading, rock hopping, boulder climbing, unstable shale rock wall climbing.
I have been to this wilderness twice last year, and have been wanting to go back and explore further when the vibrant wild flowers in this unique wilderness are blooming again. I expect this trip to be another very beautiful and exciting experience of a lifetime.
To join, above all else, you must have proven expertise and adequate safety acumen in similar wild environments. Plus practical wilderness knowledge. Penalty for carelessness, mistake, and inaccurate assessment are quite serious injuries.🏞️🌿🌞💧🌄 Overall, this hike would be an exciting and distinctive adventure, and great workout in some of the most beautiful and natural environments.

🏞️ Wild Scramble | Sisar Canyon Creek | Hidden Falls & Emerald Pools | Ojai
Sisar Canyon Trailhead, 12607 Santa Paula Ojai Rd., Ojai, CA, USSisar Canyon Creek is one of the most pristine and captivating environments I’ve explored in the Topatopa Mountains. After a recent backpacking trip to Sisar Peak and Topa Topa Bluff, a teammate and I ventured into the creek from White Ledge Camp and stumbled into a hidden world that felt remarkably untouched.
Less than 1,000 feet from the camp, we came upon a crystal-clear 80-foot waterfall—a cascade spilling into a cool emerald pond, framed by sculpted canyon walls and dappled light. The cascade, swim hole and surrounding terrain felt raw and unfiltered, as if preserved outside of time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwMleMWV65k&t=204sThat was not a mundane trail hike—it was a wild scramble adventure, with route-finding, all creek traverse, and moments that reward curiosity and a bit of adventurous boldness. 🏞️🌿🌞📸
Something about this canyon stays with me. An unknown captivating force is pulling me back to discover more.

🏞️🌞🌿 Wild Exploring | Rock Garden Maze | Rattlesnake Creek Scramble & More
Rattlesnake Canyon Trailhead, 1899, 1783 Las Canoas Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105, Santa Barbara, CA, USWe will start this wild exploring adventure from beautiful Rattlesnake Canyon, hiking on trail and in combination of exploring in the very scenic Rattlesnake Creek, which flows parallel and in close proximity to the main trail. After about 2.4 miles, we would connect to Gibraltar Rd, to get to Gibraltar Rock and Flores Peak trailhead. The creek traverse could be a new experience and adventure, and is done by exciting rock hopping, hiking over and around water, or wading, depending on skills and preference.
Flores Peak, at 3340’ above sea level, is a beautiful hilltop with great views of the cities and ocean below. And quite often there are para-gliders circling above the sky and over the horizon, and people doing slacklining and highlining over the canyons. There is some scenic scrambling on the way to the peak. After the descent, we would check out Gibraltar Rock, a popular landmark for rock climbers.
From Gibraltar Rock, we would head over to White Mountain Rock Garden. At 3700’ above sea level, this area is a beautiful, vast, and whitish sandstone boulder fields on the Santa Ynez Mountains, visible from many parts of Santa Barbara and the coastlines below. This is one of Santa Barbara's most exciting places for hiking, boulder climbing and adventurous exploring. This area has great panoramic views overseeing the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands, Santa Barbara, and the surrounding coastal towns. Also one of the most beautiful settings to enjoy the sun setting. We would explore and climb many boulders in this beautiful and distinctive boulder maze.
🏞️🌿🌞💧🌄 Overall, this hike would be a fun adventure and great workout in some of the most beautiful and distinctive natural environments. This is my new favorite in Santa Barbara or anywhere else, combining scenic creek traverse, boulder climbing, rock maze, scrambling, and lots of panoramic views.
