Ready to sweat it out on the hills? Join us for a HIIT-style hill training hike This hike is part of the **HikeFit Series**, a collection of fitness-focused hikes designed to build strength, endurance, and overall hiking fitness. We’ll challenge you with steep climbs, rugged terrain, and a high-intensity workout. This isn’t a fast-paced hike, but it is **intense**. We’ll tackle multiple **very steep hills** in intervals, with plenty of chances to catch your breath, recover, or skip hills if needed. This hike is designed for intermediate hikers, but it’s **beginner-friendly** since you can skip as many hills as you need. We are following our favourite trivia host, Simon from Are You Smarter than a Scottish Guy, to one of his other weekly locations: One-Eyed Jack's at 287 Richmond Road (between John and Peter Streets). The beer selection at this location is quite minimal but their food menu is good - https://www.oneeyedjackpub.com/torontomenu. They have a $0.95 wing special with lots of flavours. The trivia starts at 7:00pm with first question at 7:15 pm. We have a pair of tables (12 people) reserved under Steve so far. Serious RSVPs only as no-shows prevent us from fielding a complete team. Top prizes is a gift certificate for the next visit. Other prizes are a free round for the table and nachos. There is also a small prize for best team name, so put on your creative hat; the host seems to like puns and prefers short team names. Let's have some fun, eat some wings, and hopefully win!

And meat-eaters who turn their nose at the mention of vegetables. This hike will highlight restaurants that showcase vegetables in their natural glory. No vegetarian burgers or vegan cheese. After all, why eat poor imitations of meat when you can eat the real thing? Great vegetarian dishes should stand on their own. The best variety, quality, and density of vegetarian food is at downtown. Starting from hipster Liberty Village, we'll make our way to hippie Kensington Market. [Hawker](https://www.hawker.to/) is perhaps the most innovative vegan restaurant in Toronto. Drawing inspiration from one of the oldest vegetarian traditions, several of their dishes fuse Indian influences with modern sensibilities. Take their biryani, for example, spiked with smoked poblano and lavender. Other dishes reflect the global experiences of the chefs. It's fine dining standards with casual prices. If there are many people on the waitlist and it's at least 5 days before the event, we may arrange another table. **Payment** * The $5 event fee is a deposit. It will be refunded when you show up. * After signing up for the event, you have 24 hours to e-transfer the fee to globaltorontoeats@gmail.com * If you're on the waitlist, you don't have to pay the deposit until a space opens up. Don Valley Trail Hikes have so much to offer - especially as the weather gets more warm. The 8 km hike is not difficult but there are some hills. You will get some good exercise. Everyone who has attended before has always enjoyed the hike. After we go to the Farmers Market at the Brickworks which is really good. Lets get a good turn out. Please be sure to confirm and update your attendance. We meet at Sherborne Station outside the front doors at 10 am. Please do not be late.

Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in! We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind. If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward.
