We will discuss our reactions and interpretations of Flannery O'Connor's most anthologised short story, readable online in the first 32 pages of the document [here](https://jerrywbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/A-Good-Man-Is-Hard-To-Find-and-other-stories-OConnor-Flannery.pdf) (this document's spacing and font make the story much longer, it is about 11 pages in my edition). This is a story from 1955 which builds on the theme of the southern gothic genre which we explored last time with Faulkner's story (though O'Connor self described her genre as "Christian Realism"). The story is interested in theological and moral questions, and will hopefully provide many interesting questions for us to ponder as we explore its ideas. Dance-Movement Therapy is a somatic practice that uses spontaneous movement as a way of self-exploration. This workshop offers a gentle introduction to the principles of dance-movement therapy. It is not a dance class and not a fitness session. There are no steps to learn and no choreography to follow. Participants are guided through simple movement and awareness exercises, sometimes individually and sometimes in interaction with others. The focus is on listening to the body, noticing impulses, and allowing movement to arise naturally. Through this process, participants may experience greater grounding, emotional awareness, and nervous system regulation. The atmosphere is supportive and non-judgmental. The intention is to create a safe and accessible space for exploration, not therapy. No previous movement experience is required. Facilitated by Marie Vejvodova, who completed a 4.5-year certified professional training in dance-movement therapy. She continues to deepen her education in somatic and self-development approaches in the Czech Republic and abroad. Let's play badminton at Sports Centre Olšanka. We'll meet at 11.40 and play for 60 minutes. If you have a Multisport card please bring it along, as it will make the court free for you and also reduce the cost for others.
