Live Demo: Build a Machine Learning Model Using Open Source on Azure
Live Demo: Build a Machine Learning Model Using Open Source on Azure
Are your ML models stuck on a Jupyter Notebook on one of your developer’s laptops? Maybe patching vulnerabilities or meeting compliance requirements is slowing down your production pipeline? Come to this month's Meetup where Canonical - the company publishing Ubuntu - is hosting an interactive demo of **Kubeflow on Azure**, showcasing how to build resilient pipelines specifically for the datasets found in oil and gas companies. **Agenda:** * **Interactive Demo:** Participate in a live demo showing how Kubeflow on Azure can engineer models and pipelines. * **Maintaining the Platform:** Learn how to manage vulnerabilities, versioning, and compliance for open-source apps so you can bring models into production. * **Canonical Insights:** Discover how Canonical’s offerings provide a stable foundation for your open-source stack throughout the company. Your speakers for tonight's event are [Vikas ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/vikas-krishnan/)and [Brandon](https://www.linkedin.com/in/brandonkilmister/)! Vikas is a field engineer at Canonical based out of Dallas. He has experience with open source technologies such as Python, Kubernetes, and Openstack among others. Brandon is an enterprise account executive at Canonical with a technical background based outside of Texas. Come for the tech, stay for the food and networking. Let's engineer together! Food and soft drinks will be served at \~5pm on the 10th floor - we will kick off the discussion there @5:30pm after everyone has had a chance to eat, meet anyone else you'd like to and have a chat :-). Feel free to start arriving from 4:30pm on if you are nearby. PLEASE RSVP so we have an accurate food count and in order to get you a link to the lab. **PARKING:** For free parking please park across the street on the third and fourth floors of the parking garage at 12711 Queensbury; parking in the Microsoft building is *not* free. **In-person:** 750 Town and Country Blvd #1000 · Houston, TX **Recording:** [https://www.youtube.com/@HoustonAzureUserGroup](https://www.youtube.com/@HoustonAzureUserGroup)

Kickoff day!
Kickoff day!
Update (04/03/2026): I am changing our groups meeting location. After calling the Austin/Pflugerville parks and recreation department, and then being forwarded to the athletic facility director, our previous location will not work. I went the past two weeks and by 4:30/5:00 (its a first come, first serve situation) there are already dozens of people playing a mix of soccer ball/volleyball. Please see the new location listed below. Hello, my name is Sylas Brock Jones and I want to invite YOU to come out to this event. Everyone 18+ is welcome here (yes, even if you're 40, 50, 60, 70+ years), You don’t need to be fast, athletic, or in any particular shape. Ultimate frisbee is great for everyone because even with walking you will be "open" and get thrown the frisbee during the game. If you’re feeling nervous or unsure, that’s totally normal, and you’ll fit right in. Simply bring a refillable water bottle of some sort and come exactly as you are :) Also, you may want to bring a lawn chair to sit down during our water/rest breaks. With the original post I wasn't sure how many participants we would have. Yet, I now know we will have a solid 10+ people at a minimum (I have some people coming who are not on Meetup). This will be perfect for us to have a nice small game of ultimate frisbee! Realistically, I imagine we will be casually throwing the frisbee or kicking the soccer/kickball until \~6:00 as we wait for enough people (8 to 10) to get a game going. It starts at 5:30 but people have jobs that end at 5 and need to go home let their dog out, etc. If you're interested please register (and join the group!), you're also free to text me @ 512-599-0032 if you have any questions or simply want to say hi and introduce yourself. The group limits us to 10 people signing up. If the spots are "filled" that does not mean anything, just show up and look for us out there.

The 13th Annual Keep Austin Agile Conference
The 13th Annual Keep Austin Agile Conference
**The world keeps changing. Fast. The question is whether your approach is.** KAA 2026 is where Agile practitioners, leaders, and builders come to work through what's actually hard right now: delivering real value, building trust across teams, and figuring out where AI fits without losing the human system underneath it. This isn't a theory conference. The speakers are doing the work. Our keynote, **Kevin Koym**, has helped over 6,500 entrepreneurs across 42 countries build something real. He founded Tech Ranch Austin. He's seen what stalls people and what moves them. If you're building something, leading something, or still figuring out what comes next, his talk is worth your whole morning. The rest of the lineup covers leadership, product, teams, and technology. Talks and workshops. Practitioners and executives. A room full of people who take this seriously. **If that sounds like your kind of day, purchase tickets here:** [https://www.agileaustin.org/kaa-2026-ticket-info](https://www.agileaustin.org/kaa-2026-ticket-info) Want to see who's speaking first? CBusData: The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI
CBusData: The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI
The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI One does not simply build reports on OLTP data. Join us on an epic journey from the depths of raw, normalized tables to the shining halls of a well-modeled star schema fit for Power BI greatness. We will demystify the differences between OLTP and OLAP, walk through star schema vs snowflake (and why Power BI has a clear favorite), and show you the compression differences between normalized and columnar storage that will make you never look at an OLTP model the same way again. We will cover the different types of dimensions, when to use them, and how to handle Slowly Changing Dimensions without losing your mind. You will leave knowing exactly how to identify a bad model, how to convert OLTP data into a clean star schema, and how to forge relationships that rule them all. Whether you are a data wizard, a curious hobbit, or somewhere in between, your models will never be the same.

This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise. We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
