[IN PERSON & VIRTUAL] - Engineering World-Class Experience in Flutter!
[IN PERSON & VIRTUAL] - Engineering World-Class Experience in Flutter!
**Flutter Austin x Foresight Sports - World-Class Experiences in Flutter! 🔥** GDG Austin is beyond excited to bring you another incredible event for May! We're welcoming [Kody Peterson](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kodyp/), Sr. Director of Engineering at [Foresight Sports](https://www.foresightsports.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=Foresight&adgroupid=192510888368&utm_campaign=FSS_GGL_Search_Brand_HeadTerm_HHI&absrc=Google&abid=778841141725&abcampid=23118136446&abgroupid=192510888368&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkYLPBhC3ARIsAIyHi3QETC8oytCjagdWYQWKC_C4CK_Hf_dNpjStrHIOsozYQW4mvujmgSoaAtOFEALw_wcB&abkwdid=kwd-297711812809&tw_source=google&tw_adid=778841141725&tw_campaign=23118136446&tw_kwdid=kwd-297711812809&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23118136446&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkYLPBhC3ARIsAIyHi3QETC8oytCjagdWYQWKC_C4CK_Hf_dNpjStrHIOsozYQW4mvujmgSoaAtOFEALw_wcB) & Flutter pioneer, to Austin for a next-level tech talk around engineering world-class experiences using Flutter. At Foresight Sports, Kody leads the teams building apps that help golfers understand and improve their game through data and visualization ⛳️ . His work lives at the intersection of hardware, software, and user experience — translating precise physical measurements into interfaces people actually trust. Most apps are built as collections of screens. But the best products feel like experiences — intentional, polished, and cohesive from the very first pixel. At Foresight Sports, their mobile app must match the precision and quality of the hardware it supports. That pressure forced Kody and his team to develop a firm belief: apps aren't collections of screens — they're experiences, and every pixel, every transition, and every moment of waiting is either serving that experience or eroding it. Living by that belief pushes an engineering team into problems that go far beyond typical application development. In this talk, Kody will work through three case studies from real production features — each one born from a design brief that had no obvious engineering answer. Some problems turned out to need less complexity than expected. Some needed architectures they had to invent. All of them required asking a question most engineering teams don't ask often enough: not "does this work?" but "will users believe it?" Along the way, Kody will explore what it really takes to translate design ambition into production software — and why the most important engineering work is often the work users never notice. Whether you are a full-time Flutter engineer, exploring the ecosystem, or just curious about where Flutter is headed, this is a rare chance to hear it straight from someone who is actively pushing its boundaries. 🍕 Food, snacks, and drinks provided (first come, first serve) 💙 Great community and conversation 🚗 Validated parking for $7 📍 Capital Factory/Station Austin - ACL Room (16th Floor) 🕡 6:30pm-8:30pm (tech talk will begin at 7pm!) 🍲🫔🍜[E Round Rock] global gluttony (set-menu family-style Thai dinner)
This will be a family-style dinner. Specifically, I'll plan a menu to include a variety of grains, meats, and vegetables from among dishes like those listed below. I'll suggest that people purchase and/or share these separately. We'll share all of the dishes and split the bill equally. Morphology & Modularity
Morphology & Modularity
**May 16, 2026 - June 27, 2026** From the Dougherty Arts Center: *“Morphology and Modularity* is a dual exhibition of sculptures, paintings, and ceramics by Jamie Spinello and Kristen Van Patten. Both artists create abstract works, which draw inspiration from their separate interests but related working methods. Spinello is inspired by the relationships between structures of plants, insects, and geological structures, and Van Patten from relationships between architecture, mechanics, and landscape. Many of their works contain modular structures, shapes, and patterns that can be reconfigured or interchanged. Together, the two explore morphology and modularity, creating two cohesive bodies of work." **Reception** May 20\, 2026 \| 7:00 \- 9:00 pm [Dougherty Arts Center](https://glasstire.com/venues/dougherty-arts-center/) 1110 Barton Springs Road Austin, TX 78704

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
