Finding Hope in Turbulent Times
Come for lunch or a coffee and settle in for a meaningful conversation on "Finding Hope in Turbulent Times". We start our exploration using short selections from the Bahá’í teachings and other inspirational sources. The aim is to uplift, inspire and motivate; the conversation will benefit from all participants’ viewpoints. Community members of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs are invited to contribute to elevated conversations, inquiry, consultation and learning. As we grow together and learn from one another we hope to build new connections, bridges of unity and respect for all humanity.
Estuary (Balaclava) - Metanoia and Philosophical Insights from Easter eggs!
**Easter Eggs**
There are three good reasons to com to this event:
1\. A deep philosophical discussion on Metanoia
2\. Meeting new people
3\. Free easter eggs\!
**Discussion Outline**
Metanoia is the greek work for "Profound change" or "Transformation". What do Easter eggs have to do with that?
1\. History and Symbology of Easter Eggs
2\. Philosophy of Easter
3\. Metanoia and the depth of transformation\.
Conversation → Connection → Contribution
What starts as a simple conversation can turn into something bigger if we are thoughtful and intentional. That is when chats lead to genuine friendships rather than just a number in the phone or social media
Those relationships spark ideas, collaboration, and win together.
This isn’t just networking. It’s about:
* starting with honest / intentional conversations,
* building authentic connections
* and exploring how we can add value to each other
Whether you’re here to share, listen, collaborate, or simply meet good people — you’ll find a space that values depth over surface level talk.
**You can expect**
* Easy, guided conversations to break the ice
* Opportunities to connect one-on-one and in a small group
* A supportive, open-minded and encouraging atmosphere
* Space to explore ideas, collaborations, or simply meaningful exchange
* **1 to 1.5ish hours walk**
Just people coming together with curiosity and intention.
What to bring:
\- Bottle of water \(or any drink you like\)
\- Jacket \(incase you feel chilly\)
\- Walk friendly shoes
**Start with a conversation.**
**Leave with a connection. (Optional)**
**Grow into a contribution. (Optional)**

Philosophy Circle: The merits of economic liberty
Please join us this Sunday as we discuss the merits of economic liberty.
**We will meet at the Queensberry Hotel, 593 Swanston Street, Carlton (100m north of previous location) at 2pm for a 2:15pm start sharp.**
**We kindly ask attendees to pay $5 to attend to help with MeetUp costs & venue costs. This is not mandatory, but if you are a regular member it would be appreciated. Any extra moneys will go towards buying food and drinks for the table. The venue also expects us to spend money as a group, so grateful if everyone could buy a drink from the venue.**
There is no pre-requisite preparation necessary, nor a philosophical background, all that is required is a curious mind. These discussions are both a Socrates Cafe style discussion and lively metaphysical dojo, in the spirit of learning and friendly debate, so please feel free to challenge assumptions and be prepared to have your own assumptions challenged.
This event is also posted in the Philosophy Circle group.
Find below some questions or topics to consider, however these are free-ranging events and the below serve as a springboard for the discussion:
* Economic liberty as personal independence
* Economic liberty as prosperity
* Economic liberty as protection from concentrated power
* Economic liberty as pluralism
* Economic liberty as discipline and responsibility
* Does economic liberty mean liberty for the already powerful?
* Does economic liberty undermine solidarity and community?
* Can economic liberty generate domination rather than independence?
Hope to see you there!

Lunch by the Yarra River. Southbank foodcourt.
A G'day to all! I hope you're well.
How does a laid-back afternoon sound by the Yarra River? Lunch, good company, and a nice view. The meeting place: outside the National Gallery of Victoria on St Kilda Road. To find me, I'll have a balloon in my hand, looking sheepish, but noticeable. From there, Southbank food court, a short walk. The plan: have lunch, chat, and get to know each other. It's a great spot, with people walking by, and of course the river. Then, if we decide to, the Botanic Gardens for a walk, and a cafe by a lake. The easiest way to get there is to take a tram to the Shrine of Remembrance, and then walk. The gardens are lovely and worth exploring. One more thing. The end time for this event is negotiable, meaning it is up to the group, and what we want.
That is all, other than to say, I hope to see you there. Have a great day!
Harry :)

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1
week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events!
Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
