Women’s Book Club: A Woman's Story by Annie Ernaux
This week we are discussing **Annie Ernaux: A Woman's Story.**
We look forward to seeing you!
If you have book suggestions, would like to vote on our next reads, or join us for additional activities, please ask someone at the meeting to add you to our WhatsApp group.
Just a heads up: **The cafe only accepts card payments for amounts over €10**, so you may want to bring some cash for smaller orders.
Please remember to cancel your participation in good time if you are not coming. This will give someone else enough time to read the book and come to the meeting.
The Quiet Hour - Women's Circle
**The Quiet Hour** is a two-and-a-half-hour guided journey for women — a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and experience the power of shared presence.
When we speak about healing in this space, it is not limited to one dimension. It can touch the emotional, mental, and physical layers of our experience. The intention is to create a moment where the body can soften, the mind can quiet, and we can reconnect with a deeper sense of clarity and alignment within ourselves.
During the evening, we guide you through meditation, visualization, sound, and gentle energy work. The vibrations of sound help the body release tension, while the guided visualization invites you to reconnect with the life you wish to create and the deeper intentions that live within you.
Together, we also explore the power of identity — the understanding that the way we see ourselves shapes the life we experience. When we reconnect with our inner strength and authenticity, we begin to move from emotional chaos toward a more grounded and stable foundation within ourselves.
At **SheWhoRests**, we believe that every woman carries immense strength within her. Yet even the strongest among us needs connection — someone who believes in our dreams, understands our struggles, and holds space for our journey.
That is why community and connection are an important part of this gathering.
Through gentle sharing and simple exercises, we create moments where women can feel supported by one another and remember that we are not walking this journey alone.
The intention of The Quiet Hour is simple:
to offer a space where you can pause, reconnect with yourself, and leave feeling more grounded, more understood, and more supported in your journey.

The Return to Your Feminine Lineage
**Transcend the limitations of your feminine lineage and reclaim its embodied gifts**
This gathering is part of the monthly *Women’s Spiral*—a space devoted to remembrance, connection, and deep inner work.
In this session, you will be guided on a journey into your feminine lineage, connecting with the presence and wisdom of your mother, grandmothers, and ancestral line.
Together, we will gently explore the patterns, emotional imprints, and limiting beliefs that have been passed down through generations.
You will begin to identify inherited beliefs—especially those shaped through the maternal line—that may still be influencing how you relate to yourself, your worth, your voice, and your life.
Through a guided inner journey, embodiment practices, and a deeply nourishing inner blessing journey, you will be supported to honor your lineage, release what no longer serves, and bring healing to these ancestral patterns.
As you transform these inherited imprints, you create space for new possibilities to emerge.
Healing the feminine lineage can profoundly support your capacity to receive—impacting how you experience money, relationships, creativity, and self-expression.
From this place, the deeper gifts of your lineage can rise—wisdom, resilience, intuition—ready to be embodied and lived through you.

\*\*The run with the highest goat count in Berlin!!\*\*
Join us for a run this Saturday! Whether minus temperatures, snow, rain or shine - we run! Enjoy the virtually traffic free route, and take time out to commune with the goats and lop-eared rabbits at two mini zoos we pass on the way. Your weekend is guaranteed to start right!
Stretch your legs on Saturday morning with the three parks run in the north of Berlin. We meet on Brunnenstraße across the street from Gesundbrunnen Bhf at the edge of Volkspark Humboldthain, see the map pin!
From there we run towards Mauerpark, then towards Pankow along the Mauerweg. Then through Bürgerpark Pankow and back along the Panke towards Volkspark Humboldthain. The route takes about an hour, depending on our pace
Highlights:
\- Volkspark Humboldthain steps to the top of Flakturm
\- Mauerpark grafiti wall \- option for a short uphill\, or you can stay on the flat
\- Mauerweg
\- Goats and rabbits at the Mauerpark mini zoo
\- Trail running
\- Bürgerpark Pankow
\- Saying hi to the goats in the park :\)
\- Panke \(river\)
\- Only 1 traffic light \(to cross Osloerstr\.\)
We have some options to do and usually do some altitude, i.e. stairs, in the Humboldthain park and "hill" in Mauerpark! :)
We have a few variations of the route that we sometimes do to keep things interesting, they add up to the same distance.
Our pace is typically \~5.45 min/km, but we'll wait for everyone!
Feel free to bring friends!
There is also the option to finish up at Flying Roasters on Hochstraße for a coffee afterwards!

Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose
**Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose**
Labor is a defining force of human life. It shapes how we survive, how societies are organized, and how power and resources are distributed. Work can provide stability, dignity, and meaning—but it can also lead to inequality, exploitation, and exhaustion. More than just an individual experience, labor is a collective reality that reflects the structure of our world.
At its foundation, labor is tied to survival. Like all living beings, humans must expend energy to sustain life. Our bodies and minds are wired for effort, cooperation, and problem-solving. Yet human labor goes far beyond biology—it is structured by economic systems, cultural values, and political decisions that determine who works, how, and for whose benefit.
Across history, labor has continuously evolved—and so have the struggles surrounding it. Workers have organized to demand rights, protections, and fair wages, giving rise to unions, movements, and political parties. In many countries, labor movements shaped modern democracy, from the Social Democratic Party of Germany in Germany to the Labour Party in the UK, alongside similar movements across Europe and beyond. These efforts are remembered and celebrated globally on Labor Day.
Labor is not only a human phenomenon. In the natural world, cooperation, division of roles, and collective effort are essential for survival—from insect colonies to social mammals. These systems offer a broader perspective on work as something deeply rooted in life itself, while also highlighting what makes human labor unique: its complexity, inequality, and capacity for change.
In today’s world, labor is undergoing rapid transformation. Automation, digital platforms, and globalization are reshaping traditional employment. Stable careers are giving way to flexible—and sometimes precarious—forms of work.
At the same time, the psychological experience of labor is becoming more visible: questions of burnout, motivation, identity, and purpose are central to how people relate to their work.
Looking ahead, the future of labor may challenge long-held assumptions. Artificial intelligence and robotics could significantly reduce the need for human labor in many sectors, while increasing demand in others. This raises fundamental questions: What is the role of work in human life? How should wealth be distributed? And how do we define purpose in a world where labor is no longer central to survival?
We will explore how labor has evolved through history—from early forms of work to modern economies—and how worker movements and political forces like the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the Labour Party shaped rights and social change.
We’ll also reflect on labor as a biological, psychological, and social experience—how effort, motivation, and cooperation shape both humans and the natural world—and how work today is being transformed by technology, from gig economies to automation. Finally, we’ll look ahead to the future of labor, asking what happens if work changes fundamentally, and how we might rethink purpose, fairness, and the role of labor in our lives.
Join us for a critical and engaging discussion on labor—not only as work, but as a force that shapes society, identity, and the future. Together, we’ll reflect on how labor defines our lives today and how it might be reimagined tomorrow.

Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better!
It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading.
The usual agenda:
- Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes)
- Silent reading (~1 hour)
- Discussion (~30-40 minutes)
- Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like!
You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you!
No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.
