API Meetup Streaming APIs and Microservices

Details

Hello API Enthusiasts!

Another API Meetup is on it's way. This time we will focus on Streaming APIs and Microservices. We will have 3 awesome talks on topics from the bleeding edge of streaming technology. Luca from RedHat will tell us on the why and how to use Kafka. Ruben from asyncapi will present the ideas of contract-first approach in streaming APIs and finally Kevin from Instana will show how to keep a close eye on what is going on with your streaming stack.
After the talks there will be some time for networking with food and beers provided by our sponsor RedHat.

Agenda:
18:30h - Open Doors
19:00h - Welcome note
19:10h - First talk - Luca Mattia Ferrari - EMEA Solution Architect at Red Hat:
"Using Streaming APIs in Production: use cases and architecture from the real world."

"In this talk we are going to see a brief introduction to Kafka as a technology and how can it fit in a modern micro-service oriented architecture. We will then explore the applicability of this concept to resolve real world problems and architecture coming from first class companies across several industries."

19:40h - Second talk - Rubén Hervás, Lead developer of asyncapi.org:
"Using asyncAPI in your development workflow"

"I’ll do a brief explanation/demonstration of the value you can add by using asyncAPI early in your development workflow."

20:10h - Third talk- Kevin Crawley - Developer Evangelist at Instana:
"Behind the Scenes: Monitoring Stream Based Services":

"In this talk, we’ll discuss how distributed tracing can help unravel this mystery and demonstrate how Instana monitors a custom demo application which accepts data through a public endpoint, transforms it, stores it, and retrieves it across multiple services running atop Kafka and postgres. In this demo we will discuss the technology behind runtime-based production observability and show the audience the benefits and use cases of distributed tracing."

20:40h - Networking
21:00h - The end of the event and for those who want even more networking we will move to a local bar.
