The lightsaber is a very versatile weapon, owing to its unique lightness and omni-directional cutting ability. A Jedi trains with the lightsaber until it becomes an extension of one's body. It could be wielded one-handed or with both hands.
We are continuing with our lightsaber series. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in. The program for the day is as follow:
Fitness: Begin with some warm up exercises to get the blood moving and the body limber in preparation for lightsaber work.
Form: Next learn Form III: Soresu, a style that focuses on defense with tight, controlled movements.
Fighting: Pair off and practice blocks and parries.
Flow: Learn how to do an umbrella block leading to a strike.
Force: Focus the mind with some meditation.
After this main lesson, there is an optional class you can take that will focus on choreography. We will put several combat maneuvers together that will look good in front of an audience. It is recommended, though not required, to wear garb for the choreography portion.
(If you weren't at a previous session, teachers are available to help you learn and review previous lessons.
***Bring your lightsaber (training or replica), if you have one. We can also practice with padded sabers.
