Puddle jumping walk.
Adult puddle jumping has genuine psychological and physiological benefits, despite its playful appearance. (See full list of benefits at the end ⬇️)
We try our best to walk around the mud and deep puddles normally. Not on this walk! This is what you call 'getting close to nature'.
🍺 There is a pub at the end for more socialising and refreshments.
📆 Sunday 8th Feb 12.30pm
📍Meet point - St. Mary's Church, Bocking
📈 Distance - 4 miles
⌚ Time - 2 hrs + pub time.
👣 This walk will be at a leisurely pace and for all (who can walk 2 hours). You are welcome to come along just for the walk (which is very muddy) and just spectate.

☔ At the time of writing, there is no rain forcast. This event will still take place if it does rain.
🚗 Parking: Free residential roadside parking is available on most surrounding streets. Arriving early is recommended (bear in mind we are meeting at a church on a Sunday).
⚠️ Puddle jumping is not suitable for anyone with any pre-existing joint problems, balance issues, or medical conditions like osteoporosis. By participating, you confirm that you are physically able to take part and do so at your own risk. ⚠️ Falling over in the mud is not beyond the realm of possibility ⚠️ Make sure your phone and keys etc are in a zipped up pocket. ⚠️ Make sure your trousers are outside your wellies.
If you have any questions, I'd love to hear from you. Looking forward to getting as muddy as we possibly can on Sunday! Muddiest person wins!

✨✨✨Here are the surpring benefits of adult puddle jumping...✨✨✨
✨Psychological benefits✨
Nervous system regulation: Brief, joyful novelty activates the parasympathetic response after the initial jolt of excitement, helping downshift stress.
Mood elevation: It reliably triggers dopamine and endorphins through spontaneity and embodied play.
Cognitive flexibility: Breaking “adult decorum” scripts loosens rigid thinking and increases adaptability.
Presence: It anchors attention in the immediate sensory moment—sound, splash, balance—interrupting rumination.
✨Physical benefits✨
Joint mobilisation: Ankles, knees, hips, and feet move through elastic ranges that daily walking often neglects.
Bone loading: Light impact supports bone density when done occasionally and within comfort.
Coordination and balance: Micro-adjustments during landing sharpen proprioception.
Circulation: Short bursts of movement improve peripheral blood flow, particularly in colder weather.
✨Emotional and social benefits✨
Joy without productivity: It reinforces that worth is not contingent on output.
Emotional release: The act can discharge pent-up frustration or heaviness through the body rather than analysis.
Social contagion: Visible playfulness often softens others, reducing interpersonal defensiveness.
In short, adult puddle jumping is embodied permission: low-stakes, somatic joy that recalibrates mood, musculature, and mindset in under ten seconds.
