Two Peaks Hike
Details
The Two Peaks hike.
Let's hike up the highest point in Essex - Chrishall common! 482 feet ASL. And because it's just next door, we'll ascend the highest point in Cambridge too! (Cambridge County Top, Great Chrishill).
It is 12 miles.
It took me 4 hrs with minimal stopping. But I walk quite fast so I'd allow 4.30hrs time on feet. And 5 hrs in total (inc breaks). I have uploaded the strava info in the 'discussion' section.
Pace will be 'faster than leisurely'. We never leave anyone behind. Please make sure you have done a 12 mile walk before with no issues.
Meet time - 10.30. We always leave on time. Please aim to get there at 10.20am.
There will be 4 churches and Great Chrishill Windmill to explore. I haven't uploaded pics of what the top of the two peaks look like but I have uploaded a few photos I took today (14th Jan) as a taster (in the discussion section)
Free road side parking:
2 High Street
Chrishall
Royston
Uttlesford
SG8 8RP
(I have uploaded photos of the street in the discussion section)
Just head for The Red Cow, Royston. Parking is on the road opposite.
Car share from Tiptree, Colchester available. 2 spots left. First come first served.
Meet time 10.30am @ The Red Cow. (I have uploaded pictures of meeting spot in the discussion)
The Red Cow will not be open when we meet. So no public toilets when we start. So if you are travelling from a way away, I'd recommend finding the nearest toilet on your journey. But there are plenty of wild loo areas when we get going too.
But it will be open for a coffee at the end of the walk!
There is a toilet that will be open about 2.30 hrs into the walk.
At time of writing, weather is forcast to be dry and cloudy. This event will be cancelled if it changes to rain.
