Government Cloud

Details

This time the topic of meetup will be "Government Cloud". There has been much talk about Estonian government embracing cloud technology but not so many visible results yet. Could UK's G-Cloud initiative serve as an example for Estonia? Who else can give a better presentation about it than the people who started G-Cloud, so it's a pleasure to welcome guests from UK this time. We will also be joined by people from Estonian government side to describe cloud computing initiatives in Estonia.

Agenda

  1. Opening remarks
HMA Chris Holtby, UK Ambassador in Tallinn

  2. UK's G-Cloud initiative - Chris Chant (Rainmakersolutions.co.uk)
Chris (@cantwaitogo) was the driving force for G-Cloud – he conceived the entire approach and led its execution. He also worked as CIO in two government departments and as a CEO of a quasi-government agency.

  3. Estonian government cloud initiatives - Taavi Kotka (Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication)
Taavi is Estonian government's CIO or officially Estonian Deputy Secretary General for Communication and State Information Systems. Previously Taavi served as Managing Director of Estonia at Nortal AS. He served as Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Webmedia Estonia at Webmedia Group and also served as its Managing Director.

  4. Panel discussion

  1. Chris Chant (see above)
  2. Taavi Kotka (see above)
  3. Baldur Kubo - currently Baldur is the project manager of ShareMind product in Cybernetica, a company with a lot of experience providing ICT services for Estonian government agencies. Baldur has previously worked as the CEO of Resta Ltd - an IT company also with many customers in the public sector.

During the meetup we will also have the opportunity to invite Michael Bateman and Tim Hanley from Rainmaker Solutions into the discussions and Q&A session.
Michael (@mwbateman) took G-Cloud through its first and second iterations and was the voice behind "Ask Mike" – guiding both the public sector clients and suppliers.
Tim (@tim_hanley) was the architect of the detail of G-Cloud’s approach and its implementation. In the past he worked on major technology programmes in the public and private sector.
