The Art and Soul of Hip Hop
Melissa Metro and Tea-Buggz Griffin, Hip Hop instructors at Dovetail Dance Studios in Chicago, will present an interactive program and performance about this exciting and energetic dance form. Join us and experience this popular style of dancing that was born on American city streets and grew to captivate people around the world. About Melissa Metro: Melissa Metro grew up in Chicago where she played sports in grammar school and danced at Joel Hall in High School. She attended the University of the Arts where she graduated with a BFA in Dance. After getting certified in group exercise and yoga, she began teaching in gyms, schools and corporate offices all over Philadelphia. Upon returning to Chicago she became a first company member with Joel Hall, guested with Chicago Dance Crash, choreographed in self-produced work and entered in multiple hiphop battles. She also teaches fitness and dance for multiple gyms and dance studios, including Dovetail Dance, all over Chicago. About Tea-Buggz Griffin: Torrence Griffin also know as Tea-Buggz, began dancing in 1981 on the south side of Chicago with the original Electric funketeers. Which quickly be the premier pop locking dance group in the city. Torrence has received the Chicago hip hop pioneer award and has work with the likes of Sinbad, Kurtis Blow, Genuine and many others through out the world.
