Speaker: Victor Poleschuck, Clinical Professor Emeritus, Univ. of Rochester
Details
We are delighted to have Victor Poleshuck as our speaker at our January meeting. His topic will be medical ethics. Victor is a Clinical Professor Emeritus at the University of Rochester Medical Center, a former member and chair of the Ethics Committee at Rochester General Hospital (RBH) and of the Ethics Consultation Service at RGH. In his presentation, he will begin by defining and explaining some of the generally accepted principles of medical ethics. We will then discuss with him cases which illuminate the challenges that ethical dilemmas present. Examples might include threats to autonomy for people with limited ability to make their own decisions, pregnant women whose behavior threatens the well-being of their unborn baby, and allocation of limited resources such as a kidney for transplant or a ventilator during the COVID epidemic.
*Note: This will be a Zoom only meeting.
We hope to see you there and please don’t forget to RSVP.
