EHR November Meeting with Special Guest, Dr. Myra Henry

For our November meeting, we will return to a topic associated with our earlier theme of poverty in Rochester. Our guest will be Dr. Myra Henry, President & CEO of the YWCA of Rochester & Monroe (ywcarochester.org). YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County is a mission-driven organization, celebrating 140 years of dedicated service to women and families. You can learn some of that history in this 10-minute video: Activists and Allies.

Myra joined the YWCA in December 2020 (after many years working at the University of Rochester) and led the organization through the end of the pandemic, launched new equity programming focused on women of color fundraisers, and expanded their Emergency Housing program, with the purchase of a new dwelling to house families (WHAM Report on Key Bank Investment in YWCA). YWCA’s work includes a continuum of housing, supportive living, and community engagement services. During our meeting, Myra will share a bit about the YWCA’s history, YWCA’s work today, and the continued need for various types of community support.

This will be a Zoom-only meeting.
