What we’re about

We are interested in exploring the legal, ethical and social implications of emerging technologies, particularly disruptive technologies in the areas of hitech, biotech, cleantech fintech, etc. With technology often outpacing regulation and even societal comfort zones, we are often faced with only the undesirable option of too much regulatory oversight that is enforced too late, and which effectively chills innovation and impedes research and development. Such a situation was just recently evidenced by the debate between the United States Government and Apple over unimpeded access to encrypted iPhones. We want to find a balance between overbearing or ineffective regulation and permission-less innovation by fostering a dialogue between the regulators and the emerging innovators of nascent technologies; we seek to both promote innovation and foster helpful regulation.  We examine ares such as Fintech, Virtual Reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI), Deep Learning, Genetics, GMOs, health, autonomous vehicles, robotics and many other technologies.
